no one cares what he looks like: it's his expressed ugliness towards women (for the most part) and his frequent use of their physical appearance as a target when not simply targeting them because they are female and don't suck up to his persona that causes this kind of backlash. as to that 'he's always been nice to me, history's littered with women using that one.

In saying that, once you get to know him better, you start to realise that he's not as small-minded or vicious as the other GB progressives, and that he Does have some sort of principles.
