I have never understood the piercing fascination, ever. I had a pierced ear when I played football, but that was a team-spirit thing--we all did it (we also shaved our heads, so we all looked like pirates, it was ridiculus). But... piercing everything that can support metal weight... I don't get it.
I understand individuality. All praise the God of Individuality and the being and individual and the great hard-on for doing what we like... but, ugh.
The problem is that it isn't really individuality. It's fitting into a subclique of "rebels". The problem is they're (for the most part) not real rebels. They're the guys made fun of by Dead Kennedys on "Anarchy for Sale" and Anthrax on "Packaged Rebellion". Furthermore, I've got nothing against tattoos. Most look decent though they do tend to stretch and fade over time and piercings are piercings.
Also, though they try and "shock" me, they really don't. I don't feel "ewww" seeing them. I just see someone trying too hard to not fit in.

yeah, probably. Still got a little romanticism buried somewere and one day I'll go out there with a shovel and find the damn thing.
