I found this posted on the Lit homepage for the fifth straight (no pun intended) day: "10/19 - We're working on a couple of server issues right now. Everything should be back to normal momentarily."

Has anybody else noticed how slow the page loadings are just now (8 p.m., EDST)? Ever since the famous "upgrade" of a few weeks ago, the site has been on-again, off-again. Or is my trusty Macbook in mourning for Steve Jobs?

The website has been slow and clunky all the years I've been posted to it. A tribute to its popularity, I guess.

As the site is free and the quality high, I don't want to seem too curmudgeonly about it. I had hoped this latest "upgrade" would be a permanent improvement.

I've noticed the site has been unusually slow lately. It gets rather annoying, and sometimes I actually write while I'm waiting for something to load.

FREE sites exist to build patrons. When LIT has enough patrons it and its content will be sold. ROOTSWEB did the same when it became ANCESTRY.COM, it started free, people posted their stuff, and now ANCESTRY owns it all.

I feel like the site has occasionally been slow for the past few months, but that could be just my own odd sense of time.

One other site I go to is like this as well and they just changed servers the other week.

I just open another tab and surf the net while waiting. It's annoying but oh well.

I'll just revive this thread to post this. In digging around tonight, here's what I see not functioning.

All toplists.

Tags Portal and all subdivisions.

Series Portal and all subdivisions.

All Comments portals ( accessed via the category hubs )

The following Category Hubs are also down: Chain Stories, Humor & Satire, Letters & Transcripts, Non-Erotic, Reviews & Essays.

On the Category Hubs that are up, most of the data is frozen from sometime last night.

As I said in another thread, we're fortunate that it appears to be far less essential portions of the website coughing up hairballs today.

I also couldn't log directly into the forum this evening. I had to log in from my submissions page.

I've had that happen a few times recently, though it usually went away after a few minutes. Even logging in from elsewhere on the site didn't affect the forum. I could log into my submission page, but it would still show me as logged out here.

10/22 another day of "upgrades" today supposedly for the tag portals. I also have to keep getting into the forum through my homepage, and sometimes when clicking to reply to a post it takes forever.

I suppose they have to work on one thing at a time to keep the site moving, but it is getting a little sickening. Hopefully the voting doesn't wig out again, especially for the sake of those in the contest.

The site acts like Mike & Carol put it on an old server til they get the new one working.

Could be. I'm sure the iphone app is working just fine though. That's what they are really pushing for.Rightfully so, soon pc's won't exist everyone will be using just the phone.

Cept for me. I have the cheapest cell phone one can find. Doesn't have a camera, and I didn't even set up voice mail.

Unlike the majority of the population I enjoy my private thoughts and don't feel the need to have my gums flapping 24/7

You cant escape the fun. I read that FACEBOOK compiles files on non-members, too. In 5 years the black helicopters will come get you to fill a cell in our new jails.

Everything that was down appears to be working this morning. Voting did appear to stall for me when I tried earlier, but the stars lit up, showing that the voting module was functional. Upon reloading the page after watching the "wait" graphic for a bit, the stars were lit up, showing that the vote was recorded.

So, if you're trying to vote, come back to the page a little later to confirm your vote registered, if it appeared to stall.

There is no iPhone app. Apple is pretty firmly anti-porn (or at least it has been). There are stripped down mobile sites, if that's what you're talking about. You can see yours by going to your submission page and putting an "i." in front of the literotica, like so. Not sure why they'd be pushing them, though, as they don't have the "click here for hot teen girls!" ads.

Mobile versions of websites ( as they are ) aren't going to last much longer. Smartphones that are capable of displaying the websites pretty much as they are grow in market share by the day, and there won't be any need for the extra work in coding a whole string of different pages.

Maybe just modified versions ( probably on auto-detect ) that will display the text larger for easier reading on a handheld device. The old stripped-down, text-only mobile versions are going the way of the dodo.

Yeah, I don't like the lit mobile site, at all. It removes too much information for my taste (the ratings, for example), so I've never really used it.

I think the only mobiles site I prefer to the original site is espn, but that's because they load so much crap onto their traditional website.

Phones don't have enough computing power for the software I need in my profession. Nor will they ever have the screen real estate I need for several windows at once. My 27-inch screen is the smallest I'd want for what I do.

PC's ain't going away any time soon.

a very good point, and it demonstrates what many PCs are used for by the majority of folks. I couldn't use a phone to do what I use my PC for, either.
And I love to fly the Flight Sim

But they do have docking stations that you plug your phone directly into your monitor. I have a laptop, but dock it to my large monitor when I'm home.

But then you have to haul that laptop with you to and from work every day. Bummer!

I update files between work and home over the internet, and I don't have to carry anything.

And the trouble with a phone is this: If you accidentally leave it on, somebody might call you. :D
