Not meant to be overly controversial, but the vast majority of people in the UK find the US President to be both barking mad and highly dangerous to the citizens he has been elected to serve. What are we missing?

As a brit, I don't think I've ever met anyone who disagrees with this. However, Americans don't really care that much either way what we think.

where's your source for this? is there a poll?

Pretty sure we don't have a monopoly on batshit crazy leaders. I think any country more than a hundred years old will have had a couple. Some places it's all they ever have. At least now and then we get a sane one. I mean Washington was pretty good.

disrespect the Donald at your peril. :D

It is difficult to have any respect for a President who makes major foreign policy changes without consulting or even informing his allies as in Afghanistan; abandoned allies to their deaths - The Kurds in Syria; makes friends with the enemy - rocket man in North Korea; and treats his country's long-tern allies and friends with contempt.

He is wrecking the US's position as leader of the Western World - all by tweet!

I know you are heavily medicated but did you totally miss the Clinton and Obama eras?

Get well soon.

No. We know Obama was no friend but at least he told us before making major decisions that affected our troops on the ground.

Previous Presidents all had the courtesy to tell us before it was on the news, and most actually consulted us first, even if they decided against our advice.

Just for you own amusement and information,
Here in the US, we really give you no thought
except when you make Royal news, because
so much of our Kardashian-population is that
shallow. We think about it when Ogg posts
but too many of your women are of the low-
class types like dolf and Chipbutty (butters).
Those two really give us a very low opinion
of your little country. 90+% of Americans
cannot describe, outline or even name the
leaders of your country. What we do know is
like that famous scene in Kurasawa's Seven
Samurai
, when the bandits are at the door, you
run to the Samurai instead of fearing them...

In good times, you really do seem to like to
piss on America as not being as posh as you

back in the UK, back in theUK, back in the UKKR!
(You wish they all could be California girls remix...)

Ogg, when you guys can wield the influence of China or the PLO...

we'll start considering your "feelings."

So, you are only 3/4 medicated and have selective memory.

Did you ever see a US President bow to a foreign leader starting with George Washington?

We know you were there from the beginning. :)

But the UK, like most of the US' allies, are worried that decades of US foreign policy can be changed in a tweet and that the US President would throw ALL allies to the wolves in seconds.

It is difficult to support the US when we don't know what may change tomorrow or even in an hour.

We in the UK have to survive continual UN displeasure for providing bases for the US to use e.g. Diego Garcia. Our troops die to support US wars. What do we get in exchange? Disrespect and confusion.

The Israelis are worried. So are the Turks and the Saudis. Why? Because President Trump can tear up agreements in a tweet.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. For someone who professes not to care about what I wrote, you do seem to have taken time out of your day to write at length. Perhaps the Gent doth protest too much?

What "Trump abandoned allies to their deaths - The Kurds in Syria"?

There were good debates on that on the GB.

PKK and US worked together when their common goal was to defend ISIS.

But after ISIS was defeated and PKK turned towards it's separatist goal, what did you want Trump to do?
The same as his predecessors, mingle and chop&change countries as America sees fit?
Better let countries settle their regional differences on their own.

Korea? Yemen? Ukraine? Japan? Taiwan? China's expansion in the South China Sea and economic imperialism in Asia and Africa?

The US's military might costs a massive amount and sits on its hands while the country's allies suffer aggression.

I was referring to Trump not dragging the US & allies into another war following Turkey's 'invasion' (prompted by PKK's menacing settlement on their border).

But as to the highlighted part -- yes, you might be right on that, it's a side of geopolitics that I haven't explored.
Could you pls. say more or start a thread on it?

Maybe President Trump gets the impression from the Venice's
of the world that the Brits cannot be trusted with inside information...

(Loose lips sink ships.)

And why call yourself Venice and not London?

Shame???

:p

China is building military bases on islands and reefs in the South China sea whose ownership is disputed. Any ship or aircraft in international waters near their bases is being warned to stay away.

In Asia and Africa China is building roads and railways to import raw materials and export Chinese goods. They are buying up mines of rare minerals like those needed for mobile phone batteries, and next generation battery power storage.

They are expanding their ownership of companies in Europe, the UK and US s0 that even if Chinese goods are subject to tarriffs they can still say 'Made in the US' with all the profits going to China. Google Chinese ownership of US companies.
