I've had a few people email me asking questions regarding how to submit a story that will be posted on Literotica. Here's some stuff off the top of my head:
1) Spellcheck and grammar-check your submissions.
We read everything that you guys send us - 20-35 stories a day. After a while, our eyes aren't as sharp as they once were, and spellcheck will only catch so much. Stories are read most heavily during their first 24 hours on the site. If there are big grammar errors in your story and you catch them after it's been posted, it's already been read by the bulk of readers, and people generally don't reread stories so they'll never know you fixed the errors. Best to get them the first time around!
2) Make sure what you are submitting is a complete story, not a half-page scene.
We don't have any length limits because we understand that sometimes a page is all it takes to properly tell a tale, and other times it may take 35 pages. Imagine yourself as the reader, then read your submission. Does it make sense? Is it a full story? Is it so short and undeveloped that you'd feel gypped if you clicked on it?
3) Read here: http://www.literotica.com/contact.shtml#SUB
This will answer most of your questions. If there's something you're still unclear about, please feel free to email us.
4) Don't submit stories with underage characters.
This is mentioned in the submission guidelines, yet we still receive a few of these stories. We won't print them (for reasons that have been discussed on threads on this BB). We used to edit them for you - changing the characters to 18 years of age - but no longer will do that because it's too difficult to catch all the mentions.
5) Include the title of the story, the pen name you wish to use, and an email address as a contact.
If you don't want your email address listed, be sure to make that very clear - otherwise, we will attach the email addy from which you sent the story.
6) Send the story to us in one of the following ways: 1) as a Word document attachment; 2) as a .txt document attachment; or 3) pasted into the body of your email.
If you send us, say, a WordPro file, we will have trouble with it and this will delay it getting on the site. Also, if you submit as an attached file, include all the info from #5 above WITHIN THE DOCUMENT ITSELF to prevent confusion.
Another thing - Don't title your file "submit.txt" or "doc1.doc". Name it the title of the story. When you send us an attachment, it is placed by our mail program into a folder with other attachments sent by other authors. If there are 5 "doc1.doc" files, it becomes difficult to figure out which is which, especially if the title, author name, and author email are not contained within the text of the document itself.
7) If you have a question, ask!
We're more than willing to help you with the submission process. Email me if anything in this post (or on our "submit" page) is unclear. There are no stupid questions - only stupid people... JUST KIDDING!!! Seriously though - you may feel lame asking about something you think should be obvious, but there are probably a thousand people out there wondering the same thing.
Hope this is helpful in some way. Thanks a ton for your patience! Take care...
