I downloaded a movie.. and my computer won't play it.

What program do I use? I'm a complete idiot, I know. But this is new..I've never downloaded movies. Just music.

I have QuickTime Player and Real Time Player.. but neither one of them will play it. They say they need to be updated but when I go to update them.. they say they are the newest versions.

that means it has an .avi extension.

If it's a VCD or SVCD you need to burn it.

Right click on the file and see what kind it is. Some moves need window media player.

Go download Windows Media Player off the Microsoft website. Don't get the newest verison 9 tho. Get the 7.1(I think that's the older version), it's better.

If it's a MOVIE..liek MOVIE MOVIE..ie: 8 Mile or Something recent....like a DVD rip. Then it's DIVX.

If it's a friend who has a web cam..odds are just need windows media player.

Yes, I did download 8 Mile. But I've seen it in the theater and I was talking to a friend who said he had downloaded it from Kazaa.

I don't believe that it's the whole movie as I seen it in the theater. I also think it will be poor quality. He says it isn't.
We have a bet going. As soon as I win or lose this bet.. the movie will be deleted from my computer.

If it's a .AVI...wmp can play it also and I perfer that over anything else.

Do you have the FULL thing?

Are you using DIVX player or Windows Media Player?

Neither Divx or WinMp will play it.

Divx says it performed an illegal operation.. and WinMp says it can't find some codec thingy.

This just goes to show you.. that I should not try to steal.

I deleted the file from my comp.. and I uninstalled Divx.
