Someone help me find Christmas Spirit. I am sorely lacking this year and in need of help. And despite Calypso's best efforts singing me Carols over the phone it as of yet eludes me. So give me your best shot. Show me holiday pictures...sing me a carol, tell a heart warming holiday tale. I am willing to try just about anything.

Bah Humbug. Christmas sucks.

I am so not going to go with my first thought on this...

repeats to self..I will not be a perv..I will not be a perv...

It is a hard time of the year. I have been doing Christmas decoration with my son has helped. We have been doing crafts, and watching movies. Sometimes in there eyes you see the true meaning of Christmas and realize it is not so bad.

Kitte, Christmas Spirit can't be forced. You can innundate yourself with baking and music and those seasonal movies, but it comes from within. My best advice would be to go out and wreak some random acts of kindness.

That's why the Mistletoe thread posted early this year. My spirit is lacking too. Maybe, I need to send you a holiday care package! Be sure to cheer you up a bit.

I am alone...no little eyes to look into. But I am glad you have that. I miss that so much. This is my first Christmas without my step daughter.

The Christmas Wish ~ A Christmas Together (Muppets)

I don’t know if you believe in Christmas,
or if you have presents underneath the Christmas tree.
But if you believe in love, that will be more than enough
for you to come and celebrate with me.

For I have held the precious gift that love brings
even though I’ve never saw a Christmas star.
But I know there is a light, I have felt it burn inside,
and I can see it shining from afar.

Christmas is a time to come together, a time to put all differences aside.
And I reach out my hand to the family of man
to share the joy I feel at Christmas time.

For the truth that binds us all together, I would like to say a simple prayer.
That at this special time, you will have true peace of mind
and love to last throughout the coming year.

And if you believe in love, that will be more than enough
for peace to last throughout the coming year.
And peace on earth will last throughout the year.

Hey... you just made me think of this poem I wrote a few years back. I hope you find your Christmas Spirit.

-------------------------

lights rim the houses
carols fill the air
again we go through the motions
just like every year

the malls are filled
many presents bought
each present is purchased
with the warmest of thoughts

we fill out the cards
yearly letters to friends
some we saw yesterday
some have slipped from our hands

but as the years pass
and the wrapping is ripped
i feel less rejoiceful
with each tinseled gift

presents can't fill
the void that i feel
there's still something missing
things that once were so real

santa's only a figment
i know that now
and even jesus
has lost his sweet glow

i go through the motions
and try oh so hard
to keep up the spirit
that now seems so far

i've bought all the presents
each one with thought
but along the way
something was lost.

Wish I could help Kitte, but I have about zero myself. If you discover any, could you ship a bit my way?

Oh honey I am sorry you wont have her this holiday.

I could call you and my son could sing you jingle bells.

Christmas spirit..

My girls asking for coins everytime we pass by a Salvation Army pot and the bell ringer. At someone point I didn't have any, but that didn't stop them.. they had gone around the apartment finding all the spare change I left lying around and filled their pockets, so the next lucky bell ringer got the contents of said pockets. :)

My girls not getting mad when my dad, in his depression fit, threw away (gave to a Salvation Army truck) ALL their toys last week in his 'attempt' to 'clean house' of my moms memories. They said, "that's okay mom, that way all the poor kids get toys for Christmas".

How about when I'm singing Jingle Bells in the car, my youngest sings over me "Jingle Bells, Batman smells, Robin laid an egg, Bat-mobile lost a wheel and Joker plays ballet." :D

I agree with you, EE. Things like that always help cheer me up during the holidays.

That poem I wrote... I wrote it when I felt like Christmas was all about presents and money. I had plenty of money for the first time ever at that point and yet none of the gifts I gave seemed to make any difference. I wasn't showing people that I cared, I was showing them that I had a good job. Whoopee. lol

Now I try to "adopt" at least one kid a year (the present tree thing) and either Thanksgiving or Christmas my family goes to work at a soup kitchen for the day. No matter how bad my year seems to be going, helping others just puts things into perspective for me.

I'm babbling...I'll shut up now. :D

I have something hot off the presses!

My son just saw a picture of Santa and he actually said Santa!

He really talked this time. Of course, it came out Tanta, but he knew and he told me!

yay! This is good!

Gawd that was a huge post up there, you could at least lie to me and tell me you will look into the audio book!

Just got around to reading it, I hopped into a long hot shower to try and wash away the blues. It helped a bit as did your post. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas. I will look into the audio book. Thanks again IR.
