Help Writing A Dominant Character

My husband gave me the idea to write a story about a FemDom but as a more submissive person, I'm having a hard time.

Some insight on the topic would give much help.

Female domination is pretty much the same as men doing it - but what's the personal dynamic?
Do they know each other? Are they in a relationship?
Is the sub male or female? Bratty or compliant? Wanting to be praised for serving or to be punished for disobedience or failure? What are their limits?
What does the domme really get off from - control? Reactions? Causing pain or marks or orgasms? Denying pleasure or orgasm? Being worshipped verbally or physically?
Is it the first time for either of them?
What's the story? What changes? Or just a scene from their lives?

I have a few different dommes in my stories (Educating Laura ch5, Wheelchair Bound?, Switching at KinkCon, for example)

If you are a submissive, then approach it this way: what turns you on? Presumably, you are turned on by dom traits. What are those traits? Write the character that turns you on. Think deeply about what that character is like and what excites you about that character.

The simplest way of doing characters is imagining you're watching a movie or tv show.

Go to porn hub and look up two sites, whipped ass is woman on woman femdom. Men in pain is woman topping men. Granted both are on the rougher side, but you could get some good ideas.

Maybe worth thinking about whether you're aiming for a more realistic or more fantastical version of BDSM.

In the more fantastical versions, dom/mes always Just Know what their sub craves, they're always in the mood to boss the sub around, they have an unlimited budget for toys and fetishwear, yada yada.

IRL, dom/mes are human beings. No mind-reading, we have to actually use our words. Sometimes we have day jobs/kids/backache/latex allergies/etc. that get in the way of fun, sometimes we don't have the mental focus for a scene.

Either can be a fun story. The ones Kumquatqueen mentioned are good examples of the more human end of things.
