Help with Story Icons etc

Where can I find a list explaning the icons attached to stories in the library lists or can someone explain them please?
Also is it possible to tag an author or story series so that a notification is sent when a new story or chapter is posted?

You can favorite an author, but you don't get a notification when a new story is posted. Would be an awesome feature though.

If you do,

The Red H means a story rating of 4.5 or higher and can be lost after a low vote;

The Blue W means that the story won, or was placed, in a Literotica contest.

The Green E is rare, and means that the Editor = site owner liked it.

Yes.

Another hint. It isn't unusual to reach 10 votes with a perfect score of 5.00 because the rating isn't generally visible until 10 votes have been recorded.

That is not a real indication of the excellence of the story. That MIGHT come after votes have been cast when the rating is visible, but can be adversely affected by low votes.

The voting system is skewed. Newcomers might think that an acceptable story should get a medium vote of 3, but any vote lower than a 4 damages the rating disproportionately.
