I can't figure out the hell is wrong with AOL related programs. My AIM won't connect completly and my AOL works, but my buddy list won't show up. I'm confused? Help appreciated.

You Poor bastard.

AOL is your problem.

Around this house AOL is considered Malware and a virus!

Um... yeah, that's pretty much it in a nutshell. AIM is also a worm, meaning you can't delete it without entering the command five or six times, or just formatting your HD altogether. Sadly, I know this from personal experience.

Get a real ISP service and IM.

And, just for emphasis... you poor bastard.

i, too, have to weigh in and say that AOL is the biggest "POS" ever perpetrated on internet users. i use it 'cause it's free and they won't let me cancel. lol. hey, for free i can deal with all kinds o' shit.

and the new 9.0SE was intriguing because it allows you to just use a dialer... and THAT sucks more than the whole fucking software suite they force you to use.

if you're paying for AOL, my advice is to switch to netzero or some other ISP.

sorry for not addressing your question but i think we have a concensus here about the product and i just wanted to join in.

Wow...

Didn't know AOL was so hated on here. Sorry I asked. Seriously. I wish I was more computer intelligent. It has to do with my firewall. I'll just get my computer checked out.

which firewall are you using?

i use norton/symantec and every now and again i'll block access by accident. you just have to go into where you edit the rules you've created and undo what you did to block communication.

if you're using symantec i can give you instructions... otherwise you'll have to consult your manual.

I dont know what might be wrong with your AIM, personally, I prefer to use MS Instant Messenger... but I'd suggest checking your buddy list preferences..

You can get there by clicking on Settings, changing to the A-Z tab, and selecting buddy preferences

When you get there, make sure the "Show me my buddy list on sign on" is checked....

That may not be the answer, but its somewhere to start !

I figured out the firewall problem for myself. And to answer someone's question, I have Windows Firewall. i just need to allow some AOL programs and it works fine now.
