Help! Resizing avatars?

Ok...I'm about to show my ignorance once again.

(it won't be the last time) lol

I've got a .bmp that's too large....how the heck do I shrink the little devil down?

Just for future reference... and I see that CB's already done the mode change...

BMP's are huge..... AVs, and any images on the web, should be either .gifs and .jpgs - most graphics programs will allow you to both resize and change file types.
