Not long before reading WW's thread, I was about to post this one. Ironically, my problem is with an online friend of almost 3 years who is constantly sending me tons of forwarded mails, many of them jokes. For example, I may notice her online for a while and when I check my mailbox, she 'd send me as much as 13 forwards at one time. I thought that I had solved the problem in the past.
I used to have the same problem with another online friend. So I simply went to the AOL Mail Center and blocked both of their names from sending mail to me. I then e-mailed them to explain that I had e-mailed resumes to numerous employers and their forwards are cluttering my mailbox and preventing me from receiving any responses. (I know it sounds silly but it worked for one of my friends) The other friend no longer sends me a dozen of forwards. In fact, she sends none. But the friend of 3 years simply picked up her habit again. I tried to politely ask her to send only a few but just last week, she sent me 8 one day and another 5 the next. I would hate to seem mean and put her back on my "BLOCKED RECEIVE MAIL" list but I have no other choice. What do you guys think of this matter?

It sounds like she's one of those people that either has a forwarding group in their address book or is forwarding to everyone in the address book. I'd tell her that you don't wish to have jokes, poems, etc. cluttering up your mailbox and if she can't respect your wishes, you'll have no choice but to block her e-mail.

If you are using outlook express, it has a feature that allows you to define "rules" for sorting e-mail into different folders. I don't know if AOL's mail program can do the same thing, but if it does, you can set up a "rule" that sends any incoming e-mail from this person to a separate folder for forwarded jokes (or the deleted files folder) without you ever seeing them.

Cool, WH. Thanks a million (not of forwards though).
