HELP!!! - How do I UN-Spam Literotica from Yahoo Mail???

OK - I fucked up.

While removing some ridiculous messages (do I really need Viagra???) from one of my Yahoo accounts I accidentally moved some Lit email materials to SPAM.

Ooops.

I cannot figure out how to fix it. Nothing seems to manage the "un-spamming" of messages. So now I'm not receiving emails from threads or story Feedback or anything at all from Lit.

Help?

I'm not sure. Lycos mail, which is where my Lit mail goes, has a feature where you can "protect" certain addresses or any mail from certain domains, but I don't see that on the Yahoo mail options. :(

Yahoo has the little "not spam" thingy that you can flag on messages delivered to your bulk mail folder, but in my experience that doesn't seem to do anything to tell them to STOP sending mail from that address to the bulk mail folder next time.

I upgraded to Yahoo Premium because I needed the extra capacity for e-mail attachments, and there's a more sophisticated spam filter. If it's a serious problem, you might want to try that. Check the specifications first, because I'm not certain you can fix your problem. PM me if you need me to check it out.

Edited to add: You might be able to address your un-spam problem and then drop the premium service after a month or two.

Who knew this was going to be such a pain? Grrrr!

Thanks for the input, min and she - I'm off to dicker with my system.

And why isn't that going to be as much fun as it sounds?

I'll dicker with your system, but until you get your problem fixed just start a free hotmail account and change your e-mail address for Lit to that account. Just google hotmail.com and sign up.

It might not be you Sarah.

Have a word with Lou......she was saying yesterday that she wasn't receiving any notifications from Lit, and so were a few other people. It all seemed to have happened after Lit crashed and disappeared from the face of the earth the other evening (UK time).

Just a thought, but it might not be you at all.

Edited: This is the thread I was talking about:

Am I the only one not getting any?

Nah, that wasn't happening for long, and just spasmodically. Seems completely ok now, though. However, that might have been the problem with your mail, Sarah, is it ok now?

If it isn't, is your mail from Lit going straight into your bulk folder? Yahoo mail does that with what it thinks is spam. Go into that bulk folder and it will say whether or not "Spamguard" is on - which it must be for you, I presume. Click on the link there that says "Edit Spam Options". It then goes on to tell you about the "Not Spam" button.

Hope that helps!

Lou

It definitely might not be you, Sarah.

I just now checked my email. I checked it earlier today (around 9.30am UK). In the time between the two checks, two Lit messages informing me of PMs had come in. One referred to a message from Thursday, the other from Friday (I don't get many PMs, LOL). Incidentally, I had checked my emails a couple or three times during Friday, too.

Sorry - sorry! (I so enjoy living amid the clutter!)

Room made for messages!

I grew tired of dickering.

Lisa, I took your advice and just opened a new account -

so instead of sweetsubsarahh@yahoo -

it is now sweetsubsarahh@excite -

It took Lit a few hours to send me new notification codes because I changed my email addy but it appears things are finally up and running!

*groan*

What a mess -

On Yahell, click "Check Mail"

On the left will be a list of folders. Click your "Bulk" folder. This is where Yahell puts all your spam.

Open one of the notices from Literotica.

Near the top, there will be a link to the effect of "This is not spam". Click that. It will tell Yahell not to flag it as spam.

HOWEVER, I still find that the first notice about a thread will go to my regular in box. Any after that still goes to the bulk mail folder.

Jenny

I used spam filters for a bit. Both of them had "un-spamming" issues and both put real mail in the spam folders when simultaneously sending on to the in box ones from "Unknown" with "(no subject)" and with a date-stamp in 1969. They simply don't fucking work.

And so I have killed them entirely, both at work and here. I work at a church, dude. The computer doesn't GO anywhere. Oremus.org, which is a searchable Bible database. Some dictionaries. Church home pages and business links, like the folks who lease us the copy machine. But we get 350 spam messages over the weekend, normally: Canadian pharmaceuticals and post-your-profile date services, Rolex clones. But I just delete the damn things. My eye is more reliable than the spam filters and I can always undelete if my mouse hand slips.

I know this is too late to help. I like the idea of excite, sarahh. Good deal. Just changing services slows the spam up considerably.

You might want to do like me and write your e-mails on a wordpad or notepad and save to desktop where you can open easy and look. Peoples give me google-mails and stuff, I have a couple of those and about 5 others. I keep one good big one for work and one other for serious stuff, and lots for fun and tradin pics and stuff.

Hotmails are good for signing up for free stuff and joining groups and then if you get spammed you can just forget that one and create another.

P.S. Did I tell you how many licks I charge for advice?

JRaven -

I don't have Yahoo Plus and don't want that upgrade. That option isn't available for me when I open a Lit email.

BUT - when I added Filters last night and used all the possible Lit replies - Feedback, General Discussion, etc. - that did work.

Finally.

This morning.

So - after I went through all the hassle of changing email addys, the backlog of replies did come through. The filters worked.

Damn it.

So now I have several open sweetsubsarahh accounts - I think I'm changing the Lit account BACK.

I'll keep the excite account for playtime.

:)

Let's talk, baby.

Would that be licks with a paddle or with your tongue? ;)

I do that constantly with mail from one address, Loulou. (the "not spam" thing, that is) It doesn't seem to keep them from sending each new one to the bulk folder.

@#$%^&*@#$%^&*

I am still having problems! This is so f***ing annoying. I even got a notification from Lit stating I needed to update my e-mail information. They said the mail kept bouncing back.

 Huh? I changed nothing.

The only mail that came through was a silly feedback. Nothing else, not even the message there was a private message.
I reinstalled Yahoo and unchecked all Spam filters. Any other suggestions?

Ok, it seems that a good round of swearing helps. No more problems.

:D
