Help Desperately Needed for Animal Victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Bumped for the dogs stranded in treetops.

And for the email I sent out at work this morning about needing a couple of doghouses for our refugee pooches.

3 people already offered us theirs, including one family who will be delivering it to our house tomorrow (saving us from trying to locate a truck).

There are lots of good people out there who are just looking for a way to help.

Ahem. The politically correct term is now evacuee pooches. Dogs apparently think "refugee" has a negative connotation. Like, "Who did that on the rug?"

If there's ever been the need to see a happy ending, this is it.

Check out this Baltimore TV station's video of a grinning dog being reunited with his family. http://www.wjz.com/

Wouldn't that be, "Who evacuated on the rug?"

Confused in Kansas

aaaaw chico! that is one happy, lucky dog. thanks for the video.

Anyone know what SART is?

I saw several SUV's with that put on the side windows in shoe polish with "Katrina Bound for Pets" on the rear glass while coing home.

Colly, I found two possibilities:

1) State Animal Rescue Teams

2) Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology

I'll bet it's #2. A lot of disaster victims will want to reproduce right away and teams of men in SRVs will naturally be eager to help.

How are your folks, Colly?

We are good. Had some downed power lines, some wind damage and some who took a while to report in casue telecom was ruined.

Some of my cousins took a big hit because without electricity thier chicken houses couldn't be ventilated properly and they lost a lot fo chickens. One family friend passed away from a heart attack, but we can only speculate the heat & humidity with no elec had something to do with it. She had suffered a stroke a few years before and was pretty frail before hand.

Thank you for asking :)

Bumped Again -

And I'm waiting for the return email that tells me when to go pick up the pups!

I'm sure they're going through the proper processes but it is taking a long time to get the animals to Kansas, bless their hearts.

Anyone heard anything?
