Hello Portland

Based on my understanding, wearing a chicken costume is now considered to be terryrism, which is punishable by death by military strike.

dear leader continues to spread liberty like mayonnaise on a BLT.

I'll regret wading into this...

Y'all should read The Atlantic's writeup, titled "Burning Man for the Terminally Online."

I live here and the broad brushstrokes of that article align with what I've seen. We've seen more out of town influencers and cable news personnel than locals. The right is overrepresented within the out-of-towners but the left is there too. I'd hazard a guess there's a 60/40 split between the two. I hate both of them.

99.9% of the people here, regardless whether they support or oppose ICE/Trump, deeply resent our city being used to further a narrative and make money for influencers/cable news personalities that contribute nothing of value of society.

If the National Guard does make it here, I imagine it's going to be a lot like Fleet Week at the Rose Festival, where we end up telling them the best strip clubs to go visit when they're off duty, lol. But hey, the left wing influencers will get to present it as the impending arrival of fascism, while the right will get to crow about crushing Antifa. Then both will encourage you to like and subscribe for more updates, and here's links to Venmo/Zelle so you can support our brave "journalism."

Did I mention I hate both sides?

Who will surrender? Will ICE surround their corporate headquarters?

Do you have the address? I'd like to help ICE out, 🤔.
Did you miss the part where I disclosed they've been infiltrated? Or that their source of funding and legal support has been cut off? Then there are the few, desperately seeking their 15 minutes of fame or overcome with revolutionary zeal, that will end up in body bags.

Um, the right wing journalists are literally there in service to racism, fascism & authoritarianism, while the left wing journalists are there for various reasons - some of them as you described, but others doing yeoman’s work in reporting the ACTUAL facts / conditions on the ground in Portland, etc).

Both-sides arguments under the current political and federal administrative conditions are dumb & dangerous (imho).

šŸ˜‘

We. Told. Them. So.

I’m in Portland pretty frequently and I find the warlike behavior of these people in blowup animal costumes horrifying. Just horrifying I tell you.

It is a hell scape upon hellscapes....death falls upon any that enter its realm

So proclaims dear leader

Both-sides arguments under the current political and federal administrative conditions are dumb & dangerous (imho).
The 'both-sides' argument here is about influencers and cable "news" people, not elected officials. I don't consider influencers to be 'journalists' in any meaningful sense of the word, no matter how many of them try to claim that label for themselves. They're just people who have figured out how to weaponize algorithmic platforms in order to make themselves money. Cable news folks are barely better. In both cases the incentive is to keep eyeballs glued to screen, to make money, and you don't do that with dry on the ground reporting of facts. You do it by appealing to people's lizard brains.

My lament is not limited to politics. Watch how these same folks cover natural disasters, then contrast it against the reporting of people and institutions local to the affected cities/areas. One is sensational, because that's how you keep people engaged. The other might be emotional (it's hard to remain fully detached when your city is underwater) but it's not sensational.

Also, if you don't like the current administration, you should really not like this information ecosystem, because the current administration would not have been possible without it. It's not for nothing they spend so much time trying to appeal to the social media and cable news crowds, with gestures both performative and substantive.

Nothing you just said addressed / addresses my comment…

šŸ˜‘

ā€œBoth sidesā€ arguments are bullshit; full stop.

šŸ‘Ž

Also:

I suppose you would have "the left" cede the field / narrative to the racist, fascist, pedophile & authoritarian enabling right wing propagandists???

šŸ¤” šŸ˜‘ 🤣 🤬

We. Told. Them. So.

word salad.

Dial the emojis back a little bit. They make you look foolish.

I suppose you would have "the left" cede the field

If "the field" consists of efforts to create viral gotcha moments on social media, influencers masquerading as journalists, and yelling at strangers on the Internet, yes, the left absolutely should cede that field.
  1. You're just not as good at it as they are. Full stop.

  2. It's contributing to the dumbing down of everything.

  3. You're playing right into Trump's hands. The whole point of his shtick is to keep you in a perpetual state of outrage, 24/7 fight or flight, so you can't take a breath long enough to plan anything effective/proactive.
Right here, you're so busy talking down to and yelling at me that you aren't paying attention to the crux of my lament, which didn't require anything more from you than a tiny bit of human empathy, "Yeah man, that really sucks."

You didn't stop ask yourself if you might be engaging with a potential ally. You think this is how you beat a movement that got nearly half (49.8%) the popular vote? Good fucking luck peeling people off the MAGA Coalition when your first inclination talking to me -- someone who isn't in that coalition -- is to immediately counterattack, as if I'm part of the problem.

In closing, I'm going to assume you don't live in Portland, so kindly stay the fuck away from my city unless you can come here as a genuine tourist instead of a terminally online wannabe influencer masquerading as an activist and/or journalist. That was my lament. I'm not condemning actual journalists. You might note that my post opened with a link to an Atlantic article, written by a journalist who came to Portland.

I seem to have missed the links where you back up your hopes and dreams, 🤔.

"Infiltrated?" Lol. By whom and how?
Who was funding them?
Do they have bank records?

Are they buried under the Epstein files on Barbie's desk?

Nah, I’ll do as I please, if YOU don’t mind…

Every bit of that ^ is surrender monkey bullshit.

šŸ‘Ž

And I am damn good at psychologically deconstructing (destroying) racist, fascist, misogynistic (pedophilic), corrupt & traitorous MAGAts, IIDSSM.

Also:

I have ZERO interest in you as an "ally" if you don’t see / define the MAGAts as the faaaaaar worse "side" (so much so that "both sides" arguments don’t even enter the discussion).

That must be why you keep winning so many elections.

Once again, I'm talking about a very specific subculture of hyper-online people, not the folks who hold or run for elected office.

If you'd stop ranting long enough to parse what I've written here and elsewhere you'd able to quickly deduce my real feelings about MAGA.

Enjoy deluding yourself into thinking that "destroying" people online is the same thing as winning an election and securing real power for your political coalition.

šŸ™„

Democrats have won plenty of elections recently (See: President Biden was your President and Democrats controlled the Senate less than a year ago… not to mention some impressive wins in recent special elections, etc)

I know exactly who you were talking about, and even that space CANNOT be ceded to the right wing influencers: Did you learn nothing from Charlie Kirk’s influence in recent elections???

Elections are largely won and lost on the economy (and of course there was also a good amount of racism & misogyny in 2024); full stop.

I harbor no illusions about my cynical / satirical / acerbic comments here on the PB influencing elections: They are for me alone. If others find them interesting, amusing, or even persuasive, then that is a bonus. If the MAGAts on the PB become ā€œupsetā€ by my posts, all the better.

šŸ‘

We. Told. Them. So.

Another celebration of militarizing our country.

maga values != Conservative values.

Act like terrorist get treated like terrorist.

You're right. MAGA leadership is largely former Democrats and they're using democrat tactics against their former comrades who are screaming like stuck pigs about getting a taste of their own medicine. Enjoy democracy!!

What nationality are antifa?

When did Obama shoot priests in the eye?

Why are you such a 🤔?
Antifa is dangerous, filled with people who are mentally unhinged. Clearly, antifa members are mentally deranged and morally bankrupt. These assclowns want to overthrow capitalism and install a communist system. First off, it will never happen. Secondly, Communism is more of an idea vs reality. Thirdly, socialism NEVER works

democrats won't win the POTUS slot any time soon. maybe in 8 years after JD

In your heart you lean left which is okay but you need to think with your head and that's where you go wrong
