Hello, I'm Old Here

I pop in now and again. Welcome back! Let's see, the last few years have been filled with having a child, getting married, having a tornado hit my house, rebuilding, working, running a writer's group and writing. I'm seriously working on getting a novel out these days, hopefully by the end of the year.

Yes, late to the party - as usual. Welcome back. Nice seein' ya again.

Red . . . me old partner in crime, so to speak. Good to be back.

I would be one of those. Only been here a year...so new I still squeak when I go around corners.

Pleasure to meet you and all that. You will see me off and on at times. More 'off' lately than 'on' my computer and the internet had a falling out. They are just not talking to each other. (on wife's computer)

Here to become a better write so if you see any of my stories, I can use any good advice you can give. I already know that grammer is my Achilies heel but I'm trying to improve there.

Well greetings from the SCA pirate.

M.S.Tarot (Muirghein Sebastian Tarot)

Thanks for the welcome. But don't ask me for any advice. I'm a terrible writer. :p

Holy crap! That's incredible! You had a baby?

:p

Seriously, congratulations on the baby, the marriage and the writer's group. Sorry to hear about the tornado, though, but glad you and the family are alright.

Good to see one of the old-timers back. Not really old timer ;) There seem to be fewer and fewer of us. I wonder if they're dying off...

Hey, I ain't eld. You're older than me by five years (Lit join date, of course). ;)

I just noticed; between you, me, TxRad and a few others, it looks like Texas is slowly taking over the AH . . . .

I don't do much on internet forums and chats, except Mumsnet and a knitting site (shut up, stop laughing guys! it's true) and I don't even go on the other boards on here. I've been curious for a while as to whether AH is like other fora? It seems like a pretty unique place to me, but maybe all internet fora are like this.

Ravelry?

And hi Slyc :)

Well, can share the married and baby part, sorry to hear about the tornado. No tornado here. Just blizzards.

Lol. Hiya, Tolyk.

I'd take a blizzard over a tornado any day. Been through the former; I know how to handle them. Never been through the latter. Obviously. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't be here.

Been through both. Blizzards are definitely more fun. Leaving the house out the second story window == awesome. Never been directly hit by the tornado though.

How's life?

How's life?

When I lived in Milwaukee, I remember opening the door to my ground-floor apartment and seeing a wall of compacted snow. That was fun to get out of.

Life's good. My wife's happy, the Little One is about to turn 7, and I'm about a year away from getting my third degree, this one in computer science. Until then, I figured I'd write a few more dirty stories. :p

How you been?

Oh yes! Sorry, I just popped back in here in an idle moment. It is Ravelry. I'm on as anthropologixmum. I post very demure piccies of socks and balls - of yarn! shut up, really nicely coloured balls of yarn.
<snerk>

How you been?

Got promoted at work, have a 7 month old baby, bought a house & a car. Married life is going super smooth (this time around) and in general life is just fantastic :)

Naoko, I'm there as Tolyk :p I have an account on Rav because that's where my World of Warcraft guild formed up. No longer play, but still stop in every now and then to say hi. My wife is far more active on Rav as she's the knitter.

Never been directly hit by the tornado though.

Last january we had one come within about 500 feet of our house. Lifted a house there off it's foundations and dropped it ten feet away.

People say they sound like a train....nope. I lived next to an airport for 30 years. A tornado sounds like a big jet spooling up it's engions. Your ears pop. You hear the house creek and moan then thirty seconds go by and it's over.

When I went outside every tree in my yard was layed over, one hit the corner of the house. Tore the gutter lose.

It's quiet. The air smells like rain and a thousand pine air freshners. Then you walk down the street to see if anyone needs help and you realize that your the only person on our whole street that doesn't need a new roof.

You will never be more happy to just be alive and never more in awe of just how quickly thiings can be torn apart.

that was a year ago. It still gives my wife nightmares.

Glad to hear it. A lot of that sounds really familiar ;)

Um.... Yes, yes I did. She'll be three this spring. She also stole some of my brain cells, I get confused easily.

Congrats to you too. Yeah, tornado was quite the experience. Was home alone with the baby at the time. I've never been able to pinpoint what I heard that made me grab her up and run for the cellar but I imagine it was the roof being torn off the carriage house.

My surprise is the result of the fact that, when I left, your personal situation was a bit more, um, pristine?

But sincere congrats, MP. Or should I say, Momma MP?

Hah. :D We both have terrible memories. I just looked back and see you congratulated me on having the baby.
