Seems like forever since the last time I visited Lit. Lots of new faces and unknown names posting on the boards. That's the way of things, of course. But I see a few familiar monickers here and there as well.

How's everyone been?

Yes, it's been ages since you posted. We are all about as you would have figured.

Some more than others I've noticed. The basic cat-and-mouse game of "who can one-up another" doesn't seem to have changed.

Well, it's the Internet.

Yaknow, it's funny; I've been doing a lot more work over the past year concerning the Internet, since it's crucial to my burgeoning new career as a web-based game designer. I've learned quite a few things about the behavior of people on Internet forums and chats. Some of it I already suspected but needed reinforcing; others were completely surprising to me.

At any rate, thanks for welcoming me back in your own deadpan way, Sr.

Somewhat sheepishly, as I realized I never did get around to reading that book of yours I bought. But I think the key saving grace is the phrase "I bought."

(For those who don't know, slyc willie was one of the charter eXcessica publishing house authors gathered up from the AH.)

Lol, thanks for the plug . . . I think. ;)

Are you still publishing with eXcessica? I'm slowly pulling some of mine away--after eXcessica has had them for three years--reworking them and relaunching them with another, paying publisher. I think three years is long enough for eXcessica to take whatever profit there is from them. Not pulling them all back. EXcessia still has 33 of my titles.

Neither I or Secret have left eXcessica. We still get checks four times a year. Been thinking I would like to add another title or two, and have no reason thus far not to.

Heya, Geronimo! Going good, and still strong. How's by you?

This might be a good thread for all eXcessica authors still posting here to check in. Who else is still here?

I don't do much on internet forums and chats, except Mumsnet and a knitting site (shut up, stop laughing guys! it's true) and I don't even go on the other boards on here. I've been curious for a while as to whether AH is like other fora? It seems like a pretty unique place to me, but maybe all internet fora are like this.

I confess to having trouble thinking of an avenging Pirate Cat sitting and doing her knitting and discussing matters of a generalist nature with loads of Mums.

I'm a member of a couple of boards. the technical ones do not, generally, feature jokes as a rule, but one, for the ex-military types, is full of them.

Welcome back, Willie.

Ooh, and flirting? I find ex-naval types are the best at flirting, as a rule LOL. They know it's just about crossing swords and don't take it too seriously.
:rose:

Why isn't there a Dadsnet ?

They come on Mumsnet but they have to call themselves SAHDs. (Stay At Home Dads). In all seriousness, I find that offensive. It's quite strange, as the board is otherwise pretty feminist.

Ah, but I'm still here because some of those old names taught me how to write. ;)

Welcome back.

I no longer consider myself a new face here, but I'm sure I am to you.

before here my only net experience was e-bay where they have very strict rules in their "community" and a sports chat site.

I used to think people got crazy in the sports talk world.

I actually got a pm through here threatening to shoot me.

Hello!

You probably don't remember me, but I remember you.

I hope all is well.

:rose:

Well hey, welcome back. Been working my way through old threads trying to recoup my challenge entries after a hard drive issue lost them...up to 9/2008, some good stuff back then.

It figures that right in the middle of an online conversation my Internet connection would go down. I think someone tripped on a wire last night.

i'm walking the earth having adventures and shit. been on the road for 401 days so far.

Don't know, really. I've been popping in every once in a while for the past few months, but never posted anything. At the moment, I'm on hiatus from classes for the next eight weeks (unless I can convince the dean otherwise), which means I will obviously have some time to kill. I thought I might pen a naughty story or two.

So far, this is the only forum I've found where you can say "fuck" and no one bats an eye.

Welcome back, Willie.

Thank you, HP.

Nah, they just showed you that you could. ;)

Then you're in the right place. Thanks for the welcome.

My old tower crashed on me, too, and I lost a lot of stuff I was working on. I know how much that sucks.

Good to "see" you again, Jomar.
