I have been reading for a while, but am just getting started with writing. I will have a new story up whenever it is approved. What sorts of things should I be aware of as a writer here?

Haha... why is loving wives a shark pit? That seems odd. I would think if people are going to be mean, it would be in an edgier topic. But I don't think I'm planning to write in that category, so maybe I will be ok.

Read a few stories there, then read the comments. Then decide if it's for you.

Splendid! Welcome to the madhouse.

Not sure what your expectations were, but they will likely be exceeded, in all ways.

BT is right about the seriousness quotient, but not just the scoring. I hope you find a way to enjoy the process, send your progeny out there (and many will read, but not necessarily let you know how you are doing), and explore writing erotica in a widely diverse environment.

Things I'm learning... ask lots of questions. Don't ask if you're only looking to be told you're right. Trust in the advice of your fellow authors, and read their work to see how they do it. If you have feelings and they can get hurt don't write in loving wives. Don't let other people tell you what to write. And when your story gets rejected, don't argue with your fellow authors when they try to tell you why. They're honestly trying to help, and they've probably been rejected a hundred times before for the same issue.Screenshot_20220518-200344_Chrome.jpg

Welcome to the Monkey House...

LW is supposed to have a fantastic number of reads, but is infamous for flesh-eating comments, including threats, etc. YMMV, but that's the norm. I avoid it, but many have done well there.

In terms of topics, I might suggest your browse Love Your Readers. Some genres are viewed more 'critically' than others, eg. stories with gay male or incestuous content. Including such content without warning will bring down a firestorm of protest.

The 'crash landings' in terms of content, stories guaranteed to be rejected, include bestiality (but sex involving non-humans like werewolves or mermaids is OK), under-18 (of any sort, including kids witnessing sex), torture (but consensual BDSM flogging is OK), rape (unless the 'victim' gets some sort of pleasure out of it in the end) and snuff stories. It gets confusing, to be sure. Don't be afraid to ask specific questions.

Last word of advice - write to please yourself.

Again, welcome.

Thanks... and uhoh! My first story may be rejected. There is non-consent, and I trigger-warninged it, and there is pleasure... but I was setting up a story with consequences for bad behavior, so... I don't know... maybe it's not right for this site... I guess I'll find out.

Always DOUBLE space between paragraphs.

The "program" that Laurel uses DOES add words, delete words, add spaces, delete spaces, etc, to your story.
I had to send the screenshots as proof before they believed me. They're working it.

This site is FULL of trolls.
So make sure you delete comments, and do not take the "star rating" too seriously.

If you run into problems, come on back and ask. Very often there's a simple fix. For instance, given the sheer number of stories the site posts every day, it's pretty certain that the first screening is done by a computer programme. It's common enough for stories to be rejected, then resubmitted unchanged or with the most minimal changes and accepted.

Thanks for the guidance, Penny & Sean...

What is the time frame for submissions being processed?
TYPICALLY, mine were in 2 days.

I've seen people on here say it could take up to a week.

We have a Contest going on right now, so it may take longer than normal, so keep that in mind as well.

You might like to comment but not everyone else does.

Getting a good comment is nice. Getting great personal feedback from someone is amazing. If you get that you'll be flying. Guaranteed.

Views might be lower than you'd like.

A good description or hint of sex in the story description at the top is as important as the title.

Ask questions of authors with knowledge, some even have date on the most popular places to post in terms of category (if that's useful) and good luck.

My first story featured non-consent and flew through without any problems and also had consequences for bad behaviour.

Hey! Have you nicked my story!

Sometimes it does seem like we are telling the same stories over and over...

Hopefully without plagiarism...

I'd better go read your stories now!!

Well... that's another question... is there a way to navigate from a person's forum account to their stories??? I can't figure it out! That seems broken...

I’m only kidding of course.

The whole non-consent and punishment only takes place in parts 2 and 5, but what I will say is also don’t be afraid to read tips and don’t be afraid to research sex. It may seem like something we all know but when you start down the rabbit-hole you find worlds you never knew about.

Before I started ALL THE DEVILS ARE HERE I had no idea it would end up in BDSM territory, but that’s where the characters pushed it.

Weird, huh?

RW, the time from submission to posting varies, but for an established writer, it’s typically a few days, more if the site is particularly busy. New writers generally take longer however; maybe Laurel, the owner, screens them more carefully.

First submission? Let me be pessimistic and say that a week to ten days would not be unprecedented. Patience, young Jedi.

I hope it gets accepted or there is a simple fix. My first submission was rejected and it had BDSM and non-con. Non-con is probably the one that has the biggest issue as a category. But yes your story deserves to be read. It is normally a week or so for first submission. Depending on how central the non-con element is will probably determine the decision. There will almost certainly be a way to tweak it if it is rejected. The tip is if non-con can be written as pleasurable for both parties it will fly. Good luck.

Brutal One

Two more things:

1. Keep your paragraphs short. Three or four sentences, maybe. Avoid the "wall of text" look.

2. When your story gets published, come back here and give us a link to the story. A lot of first-timers have their stories ignored because we don't always go to the "New Stories" category.

Wow! Loving wives warning #2! I will heed the warning!
Here's LW warning #3: The category is "Loving Wives - Married extra-marital fun: swinging, sharing & more." But NOT according to the trolls there.

The stories which seem to thrive in that LW category are cheating wives with "burn the bitch" revenge stories.

Fun, swinging, and sharing stories will solicit the most hateful comments of any category, stating the woman is a whore and the husband is a weak cuckhold, wimp, repressed gay-wannabee. But you will get three times as many views there (although I suspect some are not readers, and merely clicking quickly to the end to rate it a one.) The average rating of stories in LW is 0.75 to 1.0 points lower than your story might get in another category. You WILL get more views, comments, and ratings there, just not good ones.
