Those two seems to do exactly the same in stretching the calves. A woman on her toes is supposed to send out some kind of vulnerability signal, but I dunno. Those kind of platforms...are they anything but heels for the vertically challenged?

Personally, I prefer a woman in sneakers.

The Dancers used to wear them(the platforms) a lot, but that was for tips.

To me, those two pictures are both heels ... they are stretching the calf and putting the woman on her toes. Platforms, to me, are more of a flat shoe but put a woman higher. To wear, I vote for platforms because I like the height (I'm only 5'4") but don't have to deal with the stretching of my calf or feeling like I am walking around on my toes all day.

If I want to impress a guy, heels all the way ... :p

Pony Girl, anyone?

Okay Yui, that's different.
While I don't claim to be an efficienado on womens shoes, thoses are new ones on me. I don't think I have ever seen any quite like that.

I vote for healthy feet and thus eschew heels of any kind, with or without platforms. :)

I have boots with, well, not exactly high heels, but raised ones. I love the way it feels like I'm dancing when I walk in them. (Too bad I can't wear them much. They'd raise just a few too many eyebrows at work. :()

Ditto. Or regular shoes. Or boots.

Mmmmmm......boots :p
Okay, Frye Boots or over-knee-boots? I have pair of red Frye Boots that are the coolest. And Docs, too. I love boots!

I can do most anything I normally do in heels. I can't walk without assistance n platforms. I always feel like I am teetering even when standing still in them.

They look like sort of like ballet toe shoes for the toe-shoe impaired, eh? ;)

Extreme shoes!
I bought them to impress, Shang. :D

One of my personal favorites has always been the soft and worn-looking Italian leather dancing shoes that are seen in many ballroom dancing competitions.

It seems to me that while both heels and platforms compress the calf muscles and help accentuate the shape of the legs and feet, ultimately the platforms and their variations, like Yui's pony-girls, add a lot of clunkiness to what should be kept as feminine as possible. The platforms add a Frankenstein-ish quality to womens' feet, not to mention their height.

When a woman wears heels, of whatever type, they require her to, in effect, stand on tiptoe. When a woman (or a man for that matter) stands on tiptoe, a balance problen is created. To maintain balance, the ass is thrown out and so is the chest. While the display of the ass and chest is wasted on a man, then effect is quite pleasing on a woman.

JMHO.
