Do you ever run across an old cassette tape that you haven't heard since who knowz when?

Who's old enough to have an 8-track AND something to play it on?
I listened to Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti on the Pink in the 80's...and some hard to find Bad Finger:cool:

*raises his hand*

I have "we sold our souls for rock n roll", and styx' "pieces of eight" on 8 track still, no player though...but i remember them well

Must Be the Hat

Milwaukee has an Ocean
I'd love to live in those Mansions
Go bowl too many drinks
This world looks better when it's in Michigan

Far Across the Water

I lost my 8 tracks long ago (damn -- I still wish I had my Boston tape), but I have the following titles on 45:

"Gypsies Tramps and Theives"
"Seasons in the Sun"
"Kung Fu Fighting"
"The Jaws Theme"
"I Can See Clearly Now"
"The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia"
"Billy Don't Be a Hero"
"The Night Chicago Died"
"Playground in my Mind"
"We're an American Band"

and more...many more...some too embarrasing to reveal...(Like the novelty single "Superfly Meets Shaft"...gotta' be worth a fucking fortune...)

It's cool to go to...

cheap-cds.com (No that's not anybody I work for ;) ) and search their album lists. They have lots of sample mp3's - The other day downloaded Mott the Hoople's "All the Young Dudes", and listened to Steely Dan even though I have CD's. My other find there was ZZ Top's Tres Hombres... "Just GOT PAID TODAY..."

Nope..but I do have one Hell of a vinyl collection...remember picture vinyls?

Now..if only I could get my old turn table working. I’m not sure they even sell those to people who don’t “scratch.”

I still have the turntable I bought in '76, although I lost the little disc you put over the post to play the 45s I listed above, so I have to place the records on perfectly, eye-balling it carefuly so it's "centered", then turn on the power and hope the spin is right. LOL What a fucking trip.

Dude..the cover art on albums were simply amazing.

The jacket..had all the lyrics.

Remember Pink Floyd's The Wall album?

Haha..I find myself thinking..
"They sure don't make things like they used to."

Thought I'd be receiving Social Security before I ever muttered that lame sentiment.

You can't buy a turntable?

I bought a new one 3 months ago,as my mini-hi didn't have one.

I have a large collection of LPs and you can't always replace them
with CDs.

Wut do you Store your EPs in?

And wut is the majority of your albums? Big Hair Bands, or Jazz?

Jethro Tull

Steeleye Span

Abba

Modern Jazz

Account for about 150

Classical about the same+odds and sods.

Well..

I keep mine in exterior plastic sleeves…standing upright in lined, sealed boxes.

I never play them. Even as a kid, I’d go to bizarre record conventions to score John Entwistle’s only album..”Smash Your Head Against The Wall” and never break the seal.

While everyone I knew was buying Flock Of Seagulls, Duran Duran and Journey (hey, nothing wrong with liking these bands)…I was collecting The Residents, Throbbing Gristle, King Crimson and Pink Floyd imports from Japan.

Oh, back in the –no life-- days of disposable money…

Too Late the Hero iz a Great song

I thought Broken Glass wuz classic Townsend...

I had a friend who had 1000's of albums in fruit crates...We'd smoke bowls of Buddah Tai, drink Bacardi and coke, and Lowenbrau darks...When I'd say play Dark Side of the Moon, he'd blow my mind with something by Coletrane or King Crimson...I miss that guy:cool:

Yeah..I like Townshend alone.
He is actually a great composer.

Buddah Tai..
Geez, haven't seen that around in over a decade..
Around the time I brought Brian Eno's "Before And After Science" home and decided it was like listening to music from the aether world.

Nice to meet you Damian..if I haven't said it yet.
~smiles~

{I kept mine in milk crates..=}
