How do you handle really hot days?

It's 79% humidity and with everything factored in 98 degrees here. What do you do on really hot days?

I'm starting to get a little bored of sitting here in front of the computer with the AC..

Pretty much the same. Find reasons to stay in the AC. I complain about the winter cold, but I really truly hate the heat and humidity. It's hard to breathe when the air is so heavy.

Keep right on working... we just drink lots of water, and steal ice and put it in our ponytails. Occasionally soak ourselves with the hose. Heat doesn't stop golf courses from running... just means more work for us, because we have to water everything.

if i have my druthers: drink a whole lotta alcohol so that i can pass out and ignore just how cranky weather like that makes me. or sit in a room as close to the air conditioning as possible. :>

i agree with the water posters... get in some and get some in you.

the interesting thing about the heat is that i really don't mind it if i'm doing hard labor or exercising or something like that. for some reason it just feels invigorating for me... until i stop. lol. as soon as motion stops and i can really pay attention to the temperature/humidity, i just feel like passing out.

i hate the heat... i'm all about bitter cold, wind and darkness... but gettin' a good sweat on makes me feel alive sometimes too.

Wear as few clothes as possible, drink a lot of water, try to find something...anything else to focus on besides the actual heat!

Today, I'm glad to be back home and IN the AC. It's a scorcher here and only going to get hotter this coming week. *ugh*

I say plenty of Pale Ale.

and a tall glass.

but when i work out in it I always have me some good old hot Coffee.

hi ezzy!

you've been scarce to some degree (107 degrees, i suppose).

Pool party at Scaly's!!! Remind me what exit number you're at?

I don't complain all winter, I save it up for the heat and humidity. I H-A-T-E humidity, it should be outlawed.

Like others I drink lots of water, lately with crystal light and keep the a/c going. The noise drones on and I can't wait until I can turn it off and hear nothing.

cate: you sound like me. my wife hates talking to me when it's humid and hot out b/c i'm so crabby then. :>

I bother my own damn self Ed. Ready for this one? My sister is going to Florida later this month for a visit to some relatives. These people, usually smart and caring, asked if I wanted to go! Dumbest thing ever.

Fine with me. Everyone's welcome (but be carefull not to spray EJ with the hose. I hate to think of what he'd be showing for an av if he was covered with COLD water.)

I'm with you on this one. Humidity makes me miserable
I'm not sure EJ should even drink cold water. ;)

(btw, I just love Travelin' Man, among others. I've been humming it since I noticed your sig.)

florida? in summer? jeez, why not ask you go drink something from fucking bourbon street the morning after mardi gras?

Foolish people. Relatives no less, doesn't bode well for me does it?

Heh, I can handle the heat at the moment, *throws another log on the fire*.
If I'm working in the heat I just accept it, I used to pick fruit all summer, just keep drinking water.
If I'm just stuck in it with nothing to do however, then it pisses me of big time, I usually get as naked as possible (sans cat) and just flop about in front of the AC.

cate: well, depending on how the question is posed and when, it might not bode particularly well for them. :D

Drink lots of water, wear loose light clothing (a sarong is excellent). I also keep a cool damp cloth handy to wipe my face and wrists.

New Year's Day here was mid 40s Celsius and we had to go to the speedway that afternoon  I don't know how I survived that - the loose clothing, water and I also had an ice brick in my cooler bag which I kept rubbing over my face and neck. Weren't we glad when the southerly change came in at about 9.30 and cooled things down a bit :)

I live in Arizona, so it's all about extreme heat right now. During the week, I'm in an airconditioned building. On weekends, I run errands as early in the morning as I can.

To stay cool: drink lots of ice water, wear short-sleeved shirts, and shorts or my cotton p.j. bottoms here at home.

I don't like to have the a/c running all of the time and have found that 80-82 degrees inside is fine for me.

I've *heard* that if you place your panties in the fridge for awhile before putting them on you'll have a nice cool feeling that makes you go ahhhhhh. So I've *heard*. ;)
