What kind of healthy habits do you have?

For instance, I try to eat yogurt and whole wheat bread and fresh fruit. (although I don't always succeed) and sometimes I take cranberry capsules because I don't care for the juice but I like the health benefits and I like to read "prevention" magazine.

But I don't like to excersise and I don't get enough fresh air or calcium (milk and dairy) and I drink to much pop (pepsi).

and i love salt...

YOu?

Sex.

There's not much that is more natural and healthy than that. ;)

I have two specific vices that I don't engage in: drinking coffee and smoking tobacco.

That makes up for all of the others ;)

I also drink a great deal of water and relatively little else. I wish I could call that virtue but it's just preference.

I eat wholemeal bread more often than not and I eat lots and lots of fruit and veg. I don't drink coffee or tea and rarely have fizzy drinks.

I have wholemeal pasta and eat millet and brown rice.

Ialso eat chocolate and sweets and sometimes cakes but hey i do try to be good *L*

oh and i try to get some excercise. Sex, walking, gym.(in that order *L*)

Every Sunday morning I fry a pound of bacon and eat it myself. SOmetimes I fry hashbrowns to go with it.

I try to smoke less than three packs of cigarettes a day. I have been fairly successful with that one.

I don't drink coffee after 6:00 PM and don't drink alcohol after 5:00 AM.

Put simply, anything I do that bears any resemblance to "healthy" is purely by accident.

I make attempts to eat more fruits and veggies, I even drink water more often and sometimes switch from coffee to chai tea.

I do keep healthier snacks around for the kids.

I watched a great show on DiscoveryHealth about fat and losing wieght.

All it takes is patience and common sense. Yoyo diets always fail.

that's ok too.

I should have called the thread "accidentally healthy"

What do you do just because you wanna that turns out to be healthy after all?

Prolly get "sex" as the number one answer, lol.

As I see it, there is a different situation here.

A woman can have sex without too much worry about fitness. However, if a man is going to have good and frequent sex, he needs to be in top physical shape.

I work out in a gym seven days a week. I am in good physical shape for sex (I check my readiness as frequently as I can manage.)

My diet plan would go something like this

1. Learn to love yourself and enjoy your life NOW (not after you've lost 10 or how many ever pounds.)

2. Eat more- more fuits, more vegies, more whole grain (esp. that, it fills you up way more than white)

3. Eat less- less 'diet food' 'low fat food' and prolly less salt. It's ok to have some fat, we need it and it satisfies our appitite as well so that helps keep us from binging.

4. Drink more- more milk. A lot of people don't get anywhere near the amount of calcium they need. Also try fitting 5 glasses of milk into your day, you won't have time to drink other more fattening things. Drink whatever kind of milk you like best (including whole and chocolate) and don't stress about it.

5. Slow down and enjoy your food.

6. Don't excercise- but do get physical. Do something fun like rollerskating or clubbing (just avoid drugs and alchohol)

Do I follow these guidelines? Not as much as I should. But I cringe everytime I see someone on a 'starvation diet' (which includes any diet were you have to feel hungry) They seem doomed to failer. (and thus repeat business for the diet industry)

Y'know, not all women just lay there.

Some even do most of the work...

Actually I just did a 12 week weight management course. It was run by adedicated team of National Heath Service workers and all advice is based on British heart foundation recommendations.

I think eating more is a key thing. Too many people think that eating less will mean they loose weight. nu huh. eating lots more fruit and vegetables and good wholemeal food (you need carbohydrate fills ya up. it's good stuff!) is definitely a key.

And for me drinking more water made a big difference. i don't get anywhere near the 8 glasses malarky but i drink a pint or 2 of water a day and it makes me feel alot better :)

Anyhow anyone who would like to know more just ask. I learnt loads of groovy stuff and i'm very willing to share *L*
