Post number one.
I've been lurking and reading with quite a bit of interest here for a while and now I have a question. I could never talk my wife into this but it has been in my fantasy mine for a while now. Has anyone tried to amplify a stethoscope into headphones or stereo speakers? I am thinking that the sound of ones (or both participants) heartbeat during an encounter, drowning out all other sounds, could be quite the turn on. Hearing ones own heartbeat, and only ones heartbeat, during a scene seems to me to be a real turn-on. No other sound being heard, not the swing of the hand or crop, not the moviment of the other persons body, not the dog barking outside.....just the heart, in ever increasing in intensity until and through orgasm. I'm not sure if the whole room pounding with the sound would be better for both involved or if the dom's knowledge that the only sound the sub hears his/her own thumping ticker is the trick. Any other headphone sound ideas for the sensory deprivation idea. Kind of makes a blindfold seem like half of what is needed. thoughts?

I have never tried to do what you ask about, however, I have used a meditational technique where I lay flat on a surface, with arms out at 45 degrees or so. Then I bend my finger(s) into my palms (do not use the thumb) to sense my heartbeat. After focusing on the pulse for awhile, I am extremely relaxed, but not aroused.

However, after having become proficient with this technique, I would often "move" that beat sensation around my body, and that would sometimes lead to a very relaxed state of arousal. Sorry I can't be more specific...

You can probably find a great deal of info on Bio-Feedback on the web or in a good college library. It has been around a long time, I believe.

I love to feel a lover's pulse during some of the more restrained moments, I think I'll have to try amplifying it, sounds fascinating. If you get there first, I'd love to hear about it. Now, I'm off to figure something out.

Was it Baryshnikov who choreographed a ballet to the amplified sound of his own hearbeat? I imagine that would be a fascinating thing to see. Also, it serves to reassure me that amplification (and maybe headphone-ization) is at least possible.

There are tapes and cd's of the sound of heartbeats out there. A friend of mine used it to soothe and calm her new-born daughter into sleeping a bit more. It was amazing to listen to it on headphones but i never thought about borrowing it. Hmmmmmm......i wonder if she still has it?
