1) the central mystery wasn't all that interesting in the end.

One of the reason I really liked the show was that the ultimate mystery turned out to be rather banal. After all the buildup of the occult elements and implications of conspiracy, it turned out to be just another creepy sociopath. It reminded me of any number of real life cases in which people tried to invest greater meaning into crimes which had no meaning outside of a psychopath's delusions.

Always liked Woody, but his character was so detestable I wanted to see him die. A perfectly portrayed Misogynist and cop with a god complex....

Means he played a hell of a role.

I heard the second one is going to be three detectives, two guys one woman and the crime will have aspects of occult, but also BDSM sex.

Sounds interesting, but we'll see.

The writing, directing and some of the acting sucked. The final was at least well directed as far as providing action. I have a major problem with the final but I won't spoil it for those who have not yet watched.

First thing's first; each season is independent of one another so the whole, "THIS SEASON SUCKS@@@@@@@!!!!!!!!1111111" is a bit lame.

The finale was very cool, tense and riveting. Unintentionally funny is spots like most the episodes but still good.

I don't know that the series is terrible, this season definitely was though. Certainly not up to par with last season. However I'm not ready to throw out the baby with the bathwater just yet. I will give the experiment one more season (if HBO continues, that is) to right the ship. I'll chalk this one up to a sophomore slump.

I'm quite amped about the casting for the lead. Colin Farrell was always going to be a bit rubbish ... hopefully the new series will address some of the disastrous elements of S2.

Mahershala Ali is really good....its the screen writers I worry about. I like Colin Farrell, but the plot was weak...

They could shoot thirteen hours of paint drying on a barn and still be better than last season. Waste of a lot of good actors. The one saving grace: the street shootout was awesome.

It wouldn't hurt if they backed off of the psychotic alcoholic law official, worn and beaten down by the atrocities committed by man. How about an average police detective trying to solve a mysterious case, a case that offers many clues, twists and turns, danger, and in the end, justice prevails.... just write a good mystery that satisfies the general audience. Not sure what they were going for last season....Women cops don't always have to be lesbians (although I like that) , male cops CAN have a good marriage, loving kids, etc....
