We get a lot of questions from chatters.... "I am having repeated connection issues. Am I doing something wrong?"
1. Connection Issues:
First of all, the Literotical Chat service is notoriously unstable. The site commonly fights people signing in, unconnected and reconnects people, kicks them from the site entirely, and/or freezes up so that people don’t even realize they have been booted from the rooms. These are all problems with the site. Our suggestion is to just be patient with it all, because it is not you. Even the Chat Mods are not exempt from such struggles.
Unfortunately, typing a dot or single characters into a room not only does not help, but also is against Chat Rules. So, here are some tips and tricks:
A. Join conversations, either in rooms or in private messages.
B. Isedora (AKA Izzy, is the site bot) can be a jealous bot, opening other windows and not paying attention to Chat is a common source of getting kicked. Try to be brief in wandering from the Chat.
C. If you think you have frozen, try reloading your room tabs by clicking the + sign as though you are opening a new room and selecting your room choice again. (sometimes Izzy will automatically reconnect you to the lobby, but not your other rooms). If the site lets you back into the room without any change, you are fine. If the site lets you back in but tells you that you have 20+ messages in the room, then you were frozen and now reconnected, just read back to what you missed. If the site does not let you back into the room, you are fully frozen and must reload the Chat service.
2. Kicked from a Room
Yes, there are times when a Chat Mod will remove you from a room or ban you from the site. Generally, it is after warnings have been given, unless it is for a serious rule violation.
If you find yourself with a notice that you were kicked from a room, please give yourself a few minutes and you will be able to re-enter the room or rooms you were kicked from. Read back into the room information to look for warnings if you are uncertain of why. Or you can find a Chat Mod in the Lobby or Chat Mod Office (people with a grey star next to their name) if you wish to discuss the reasons for the kick. Kicks are not logged, they are not permanent, they are a warning only, meant to get your attention that repeated behavior that violates the Chat Rules has been noticed and needs to stop. If you stop in whatever behavior that led to such warnings, nothing further will happen. If you ignore the warning and continue, the Chat Mods may take further action up to banning you from the entire site.
