I had heard of Absinthe a few times before seeing Moulin Rouge, but have never known too much about it. Tonight I made a general search of it and found out ALL I have EVER wanted to know about this nifty green drink!

Now, The Question!:)
Has Anyone Ever Had The Pleasure Of Imbibing This Most Intruiging Drink?

Please Tell Me How It Tasted, Looked, Was Served! I Now Have An Obssesion! lol

I don't think you want to drink absinthe...pretty sure it contains opium.

So how was the movie? I was supposed to go this weekend, but my friends flaked out on me. . .maybe next weekend?

There Is NO Opium In It!

The Green Fairy Danced And Sang A Great Tune!

It Is Now My Favorite Musical:) 5*'s All The Way!

Ah, you are correct RNAB. I was mistaken because the effects of absinthe are often described as similar to opium or cocaine. It actually contains a variety of herbs instead. According to modern absinthe drinkers: "Looks like Scope, tastes like Nyquil."

GR!!!!

Mix Me Up A Batch Of The Beast:)

We Will Drink It In A Forest Of Little Bonzai Trees!
lol

You can't buy it in Ontario

It is vile, vile stuff. It contains compounds that can be VERY dangerous and produce psychotropic effects as well as do permanent brain damage with prolonged use....... guess thats why they only sell it in British Columbia....Lotus Land....The land of fruits and nuts....;)

Don't let Hecate see this thread. She loves the stuff.
Smells like rot to me, couldn't get myself to taste it.

I was surprised to see it in a supermarket here a while ago, as I've heard that it can be very harmful if taken regularly. One of my friends explained it to me, but I forget the details. I do seem to remember that it was expensive though.

I did, principaly so I could say I did and add one more "tick" to the "experience checklist". I REALLY didn't enjoy it but a couple of my buddies did. To each his own.

Saw The New Thread And Was Reintrigued

A Coupla Links In It Too, For Those Who Could Be Interested:)

Make Friends With The Green Fairy! She Might Be Your Best Friend While On It.

If memory serves it contains a herd called wormwort and is nasty evil stuff, it was very popular with the Bohemian artist set around the turn of the last century, it's banned in most countries but I think you can get it over here though, but the really good stuff is made in France I think.

This is not stuff to fuck around with unless you've got a cast iron constitution and are really dead set on trying it, they say if you drink enough it cause's hallucinations but trust me on this one you'd be better off with a handful of magic mushrooms and a bottle of beer.
