Lit's admins don't seem to be intervening with Deplorables who overtly break Lit's formerly-strict "no no" rules and / or who are threatening other members. They did so previously, at least to some extent.

This place doesn't exist in a bubble, and other social media and online forums have been heading quickly towards hard-right MAGAt incel rule since November. If you're not aware, some independent research will illustrate the ring kissing going on. Seems like an appropriate time to broach the question.

And, if there's truth to this, will Lit's desperate-for-more-attention Deplorables try clogging up the GB with politics again?

I have quite a bit of empathy for both Laurel and Manu, I managed a message board 1/10th the size of this for seven years and am way too familiar with how a certain select few troublemakers can make for a miserable experience for both users and administrators.

Like you, I've noticed an uptick in the amount of undisguised "hate speech" of late. Now, this happens fairly regularly in an election year, but typically calms down after a new president is elected.

I've noticed that some (but by no means all) of the bitter geriatrics on this board (AJ aka AceDesSpades aka JoePepsiCo and Ishmael aka Chobham) have not come anywhere close to their historical hate speech levels, but I attribute that to their advanced age and diminished number of brain cells.

Rightguide and Derpy have remained on a remarkably even keel: Stupid then, Stupid now, Stupid for the foreseeable future. Models of consistency, if not intelligence.

BabyBoomer50s, Lace_Castro and TastySuckToy have ratched up the volume of rage bait of late (hey that rhymes!) but most people recognize it for what it is: "pay attention to meeeeee!"

The real scary ones are Wat_Tyler and BotanyBoy/UltraChud. Wat has been absolutely fucking bi-polar since Laurel slapped his hand hard for pushing the TOS envelope a bit too far last fall. This month's iteration of BotanyBoy (UltraChud) is, in a word, unhinged. The guy cannot string two paragraphs together in a response anymore, and his responses typically are "quote a single sentence (context be damned), respond with either an ad hom or main-splaining what you "really" meant.
