have fun

Yeah, fuck law and order! I say we all take the law into our own hands. This judge & jury shit is for the birds. Who cares about "innocent until proven guilty"? Kill em all and let god sort them out, I say. Those gangs in L.A. - they have the right idea. Just shoot anyone who does you wrong. Kill, kill, kill! That'll show those immoral bastards not to commit murder!

(A side note: anyone here seen Harold & Maude? This thread reminds me of that scene with Harold talking to his military uncle.)

A thought.

I always believed in capital punishment for a number of reasons. Some whackoid homicidal lunatic can't scam a head-in-some-fucking-cloud parole officer and get out if he's been offed. It costs $200,000 a year to keep the above mentioned lunatic in max security for a year. A few other ewasons but that'll do for now.

Since my wife died I have come to a different understanding of death overall. "On earth as it is in heaven." is the quote. Well part of that's right but the churches' concept of heaven and reality are two different trips, baby. McVeigh and people like him are gonna get what coming to them, believe it! Killing him now just postpones what is in store for his sorry soul when he croaks.

For the reasons I stated at the start I'm still not against it but on the other hand why not make him suffer here for a while first. He'll get to the other part when he dies. He could die tonght or when he's 115 years old. That fate is waiting for him. No matter what WE do to him now he will answer for the mistake he made. Is sending him to that fate early for him or us?

Just some thoughts on a very sensitive subject.

""KILL 'em ALL and let God sort it all out.""

But I do have a bit of empathy. If someone I loved were killed in that bombing, I would want justice for them, and the hundreds killed with them. Have you paid attention to the aftermath pictures of that? How about the photo of the fireman carrying the dead child? Does that sit better with you than letting the man who killed that innocent simply sit in his jail cell?

McVeigh didn't kill those people because they wronged him, in anyway. He did it because he's one flight over the cuckoo's nest. He put that bomb there for the SPECIFIC PURPOSE of killing those people. He didn't care! Why should we? Because we're supposed to be righteous people?

How righteous was he when those children in the daycare centers were crushed by falling debris? He wants to die, he's said it himself.

The only time I've questioned my hatred of the Death Penalty was when the true extent of Paul Bernardos crimes came to light. For those of you who don't know him I won't go into the details of what he did but suffice to say he did some pretty horrendous things. I questioned whether or not I wanted my tax dollars going to pay for his living in confinement for the rest of his life. I empathized with the families of his victims who probably wanted him dead, I even thought some of their points contained some legitimate logic. But can I really support a government that kills people? With an admittedly flawed justice system? I can't and for that simple reason I have no objections to my Tax dollars paying for the all of the Mass Murderers and Rapists incarceration.

Heck, getting rid of the 8th amendment would be no skin off my stiff upper lip. I just think that if Amerika wants to start showing executions on TV they should make sure that they give us a product worth watching.

Why do you always spell Amerika with a "k"? Is that some sort of strange Kanadian thing?

Perhaps, I came across wrong.

I'm not saying that I LOVE the death penalty. And you're right. It does have it's flaws, and (unforunately) many innocent men are put to death, while the real offenders are walking around society.

But in this case, McVeigh admitted to it. I can't, and I won't, pay for him to live, while so many innocents died. Not this time.

I just use it to express my seperation from certain people. Stockwell Day and Todd live in Kanada, I live in Canada. The KKK live in Amerika, The ACLU live in America.

HE KILLED CHILDREN!!!!

Fuck him!

That was the same argument used by proponents of the Death Penalty when Guy Paul Morin was found guilty of Raping and Murdering a 9 year old girl in Ontario. They only sent him to prison and 10 years later DNA evidence completely exonerated him. I'm sure glad emotional reactions like yours didn't win then.

That, to me, is where the discussion begins and ends. I can live with the often distasteful notion of buying Paul Bernardos food, I don't think I could live with the notion that the Tax money I give to my government was used to kill an innocent man.

Yeah well tough shit......

And If I stand on a street corner with an Uzi and start spraying the crowd with bullets I'm bound to hit someone who has done something bad so it would be all worthwhile.

Admitted, proof, conviction, gun, bullet and be done with it. Fast swift and probaly painless unless someone uses the bullet to shoot him anywhere but in the face.

i am so for his being executed... i think of the children that died. they didnt do anything to ask to be killed. he did just by putting the bomb pretty much in the day care center. and what about all of the people that worked in that building that died? what about the parents of those children? how would you feel if you went to work one day leaving your child in the company day care and at the end of the day find out that your child is dead? and not just dead, but murdered for no good reason. it's not like those children had a disease or illness or anything like that. they were playing with each other in the day care while their parents earned a living. what can we say to that? let the murderer live? i dont think so.

Must we continue to hash this?

Yes, that would be the (somewhat) negative side of not having a death penalty. People who had commited atrocious crimes would still be polluting the world. The trade off is the knowledge that no innocent, who was often convicted because of his race or economic standing, would be strapped to a chair and killed by someone whose salary I pay.

And in jail, he will get to sit..alive while those children are dead. And in jail he sits, eating meals three times a day, while those children are dead.

Lavender-

I checked four general dictionaries and five law glossaries and can't find it, but if you say it's law terminology, I will stand corrected.

Just don't go trying to get all retributivist on me, ok?

:)

No doubt. On a purely emotional level I would often like to see anyone who has ever killed, raped, attacked someone or someone who advocates shipping by Truck have something terrible to happen to them. The problem is that when we let our emotions dictate our actions, logic and reason are pushed to the side for the manipulative swill of death penalty proponents. Do I care less about those Babies? No. The question is how to deal with our society. I know that the parents of those Children will never be healed from their Loss, and they could kill everyone who ever swapped spit with McVeigh and that would still be true. Should we let our grief and compassion turn us into killers? I won't let it turn me into one.

And so would Sacco and Vanzetti and Mumia and.... Shall I go on?
