I open my eyes and look at Maggie.
"Fred..?" she says.
I can see the hope in her eyes.
"Maggie...I am going with my wife." I tell her. "I miss her too much to be without her. Please forgive me."
I feel the deep sadness as I see her hope die. She says nothing. I see my wife standing behind her.
"Can I ask you just one favour?"
She nods.
"Please could you find a good home for my dog."
She again nods.
"Goodbye." I finally say and then I find myself standing next to my wife, my Maggie, looking at my body.
I watch the doctor make an examination.
"I'm afraid he's gone." he says.
Maggie just nods, still holding my hand.
Hand in hand, I follow my wife into the light.
