You must hate the things that cross the line of mores you set for your world due to your ethics.
Hate is good as long as it's reasoned, justified, and is equally applied to your beliefs.

Irrational hate works if you want chaos in ethics;
It's good for Al Qaeda.
It's good for the Internationalists.
It's good for the Democrat/Socialists.
It's good for Europe.

LC you do realize that with this post you have described over half of the worlds population as being irrational haters with weak/loose ethics.

So a massive world wide terrorist organization is the same as democrats/socialists and I assume communists too, since we all know that all leftists are really just communists in disguise bent on world domination.

What the hell is your definition of an Internationalist? I can't think of any one good definition of that term that isn't so that it becomes meaninless.

Do you have any idea how broad in scope the European political spectrum is? In general the countries are more leftist, oh excuse me gotta use the LC definition i mean communist, then the US but that is not always the case. Austria elected an extreme right wing Prime Minister just a few years ago. I think he did eventually step down under heavy public pressure.

The right did quiet well in Norway and France in the past elections.

Is eastern Europe the same as western europe? Are the Scandanavian countries the same as the MED countries?

No, of course not. All of those countries are at least as broad culturaly, political and demograhpicly as the fifity states in the US if not more so.

You know, if you put half the energy into understanding something/one/group that you had put into hating it.. good lord .. we might actually get somewhere.

I stopped looking at the war and political threads for the most part. It is too time consuming, too frought with disagreement bordering on hate and the arguments are circular, like chasing your own tail.

There is very little convincing done on those threads. People come in with their notions in place and leave with their notions intact. A far greater majority of the people don't usually pay attention to the threads simply because they are not interested, don't care or are sickened by what amounts to a catfight at times. Of more concern is the outright racism, sexism, bigotry and calls for violence against identifiable groups that can be seen anywhere you look on Lit. It is disheartening, not to mention sickening.

In recent days I have spent less time watching the 24 hour news or reading each newspaper article in detail. I still keep apprised of what is happening out there and still have an opinion. However, I will save that opinion for the ballot box or reserve it for forums where there is a decorum to debate.

In the mean time, I have been trying to be positive about things rather than focus on the negative. In the end, what can you do?

Time for the Two Minute Hate!

Read (or re-read) 1984 by George Orwell if you want to fully understand what is going on today. Politically, hate is a tool of social control. By focusing on a demonized scapegoat, attention is distracted from the social crisis at home. The elite lives in luxury, while much of the populace goes hungry. The "enemy" has already changed from Eastasia (Al Qaeda) to Eurasia (Iraq), but it doesn't matter who the enemy is-- just that there is one. Finally, BIG BROTHER is watching you-- i.e., the Patriot Act, Homeland Security Act, "Patriot II," etc.
