I came across Lit many, many moons ago because I was looking for shaving advice, and the How To board popped up. After trying the proffered techniques, I wandered about the site a bit more, and I was hooked. I credit the BDSM Board for truly opening my eyes to exploration that I had never considered, and until I read the threads, thought was only practiced by limited type of people. I'm not into the lifestyle, but I came away with a much deeper understanding and appreciation. Same can be said for so many other wonderful aspects of this diverse community.

So how about you? Have you gained knowledge, or stuck your toe into a new pond, because of this site? Dabbled in writing your own erotic tale? Talked to your partner about trying a new toy, position, or unicorn?

Lots and lots. I was a lot farther to the right before I spent some time on Lit and a few other forums and while my philosophy only changed a bit I realized that there had to be something wrong with me that I kept supporting racist pieces of shit.

Most of what's changed for me through Lit is due to people I've met because of it. I've made a lot of friends, including several who've become good real-life friends, on this board.

I learned about 2 girls and one cup.

I also learned about 1 guy and 1 cup.

Other than that...nada.

Do you know about occulingus? Eyeball licking fetish. My favorite fetish I don't practice.

Well hello!

It's introduced me to about 30 people who have carried over into Real Life.

There's been a lot of erotic and informative reading, but I don't recall it carrying over into real life.

I've learned how institutionalized individuals really use their 30 minutes daily of allotted Internet time.

Not really. I did enough exploring before I found Lit although I've learned what a few things mean and have enjoyed a few stories and making friends. Plus I've done some editing of stories which is interesting as well as boring (grammar and punctuation).

*literal spittake*

Now there's fucking kool-aid all over my computer, Jackass.

Seriously though, I think lit's too tame but fucking bdsmlibrary seems to have gone down permanently.

I spent many years associated with sex workers and perverts and such, and the folks at LIT seem pretty tame to me. What always surprises me is how inexperienced and ignorant LIT people are of what's really going on out there. LIT is the McDonalds of sex.

I have been intrigued by Literotica. I don't believe I have met more than one person here and given the realities of cyber relatonships, I don't know I've really met him.

I am taken by the amount of lonliness seeping through the wise cracks and sarcasm. And even more deeply surprised at how often the cries of lonliness are responded to with offers to hook-up.

I am astounded by how frequently posts offered in discussions are ignored and misunderstood.

I am impressed with the skills of many of the writers who share their work here.

The lack of compassion I see is the most difficult component of Literotica that I feel. I expected, I'm 73, generations growing in as open a society as currently exists would be much more compassionate than previous generatons. But, if this forum and the other two I frequent, are any indicators the opposite is the truth. Maybe the "cyber" thing has something to do with it. You don't deal with real people. You deal with words found in the ether and interpreted to mean whatever you wish, it seems.

I am not condemning what I see in forums, I am answering the question presented.

The General Board is aka the shark tank. Civil conversations are more rare here. Usually the other forums are better, but there's always a few who enjoy being rude because they're desperately unhappy or they're sociopaths, or both. It's hard to tell which..The Playground is the safest and has the kindest Litsters. And the internet does tend to make one feel above being personally responsible, unfortunately.

1, some people are cunts
2, some people are wonderful
3, some people who appear wonderful are in fact cunts
4, some people who appear cunts are in fact wonderful

rot. the playground is full of the veneer of kindness, which is not the same thing.

i would prefer a genuine, compassionate, rude git to a smiling, flirting, backstabbing whateverophobe.

the gb has some truly incredible people. i trust them all the more for the knowledge that they will be honest even if it's not pc & polite.

People on the other boards hide the nastiness at least on the GB it's pretty much out in the open.

Never be too confident that things are as they seem.

I didn't say they were perfect, but for people who are new who don't enjoy getting unjustifiably attacked and want to have fun without being attacked, the playground is a good forum to start with. There's probably just as much rot in all the forums but if people don't want an argument, the pg is where arguments are not the rule.
