Yep, I am almost never barefoot these days, not worth it.
I wish I had learned that earlier in my life, might have saved me several breaks.
I am so used to the crack of a breaking toe, I just close my eyes and think of something else as I drag myself to the freezer for ice. Chanting, 'you can lay down after you get the ice, on the couch or bed, you can lay down after you get the ice....' laying on the floor only encourages the dogs to come investigate. Although I have discovered lost items this way, all that stuff that ends up under the table and oven, amazing.
