Has anybody on LIT been recognised by a person they know?

Hi,

I was just broadly wondering if anyone here was recognised by a person they know in real life. Through Stories, chats, pictures, personals, location etc...

I am asking this to understand what kind of specific details to share in the stories I like. I know I can be very general and open ended but the fun is in the thrill and details.

TIA.

Not exactly real life but an online friend that I was out of touch with for about 15 years. We were not using the screen names we used to. Mine was the same but I added the 59 to it as Jada was already taken. He recognized a story that I posted and recognized the way I was talking.

Well... Not really. Sort of backwards from that.

About a week after I published "A Final Valentine," I limped my ass down to my smoke shop. While I was sitting on the curb lighting one, someone across the street at the gas station honked, waved real big, and screamed, "Hey, Aaron!"

I ignored them since that isn't my name.

It wasn't until about a half block later that I stumbled and thought, "Oh, shit! Maybe I shouldn't have described my neighborhood, not to mention my dazzling as fuck fashion sense so accurately!"

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am thinking of writing a fantasy about someone I know and send it to them in an anonymous email. How do you think they will react?

Do you mean via lit?

Honestly, if it happened to me, I would be creeped out. It’s pretty unnerving to be recognised, but then to have someone contacting you making it clear they know you, but not giving away who they are, would be a little too much for me.

Maybe they would enjoy it, but there’s no way to know, when you don’t know the person.

I had a friend that I Erotic Role Played with on a regular basis in an online MMORPG, who had mentioned that she would be attending an event. The conversation had inspired a story so vivid in my head, that I wrote it up, changing Identifiable details of the Players involved, and sent it to her...

She reacted pretty much how LikeableMe describes, about two weeks later she “Renamed” the RP characters in game and gave me the “It’s not you, it’s me” email. I have respected her wishes, and have not contacted her since, and moved my characters to a different server just to be sure I didn’t make her feel uncomfortable if she ran across any of them.

As far as I know no one has recognized me that I know in r/l. I wouldn't be surprised if one or more casual acquaintances have either been on here in the past or currently visit Lit. I guess that it's always a possibility, though I would imagine it would be a rare occurrence.

No. No. Here I meant that if I wrote a fantasy about someone I knew in real life and sent them the story anonymously, how do you think they would react? (Not on LIT).

Would it arouse curiosity about who might have written this or it would freak them out?

Thanks.

Noted. So what I proposed does not seem to be a very bright thing to do.

Same answer, I would find it pretty scary. Also depends whether you have any flirtations etc with the person, as it would be slightly less inappropriate if it was seen as a welcome gift from someone they flirt with. But if it’s someone you don’t flirt, or regularly communicate with, they will probably feel creeped out, in my opinion.

For me, and this is just how I personally would feel about it, it would be up there with the “I’m watching you” type of messages.

Getting an erotic story sent to me anonymously, if if clearly had me in it, would be off the charts on the creepiness scale. My opinion only, but no. Just no.

Thanks ladies. In my head it could have swung both ways but clearly not. This is why we need forums :)

And keep in mind, this was with someone who I in effect Co-Wrote some very very Litworthy stories with. But when it came down to "Her" as a part of the story, she didn't appreciate it at all.

Sometimes things we think of as "Guys" just don't translate as well to Women. I sometimes find myself asking "Will she think this is Creepy?" and 9 times out of 10, just the fact I am asking that question, is my answer.

A real life friend of mine recognized me after following an audio link to my picture thread I had at the time. He texted me and said that he had either found my twin, or saw me on a web site. I told him that if he saw me on the web site he was a pervert. ;) We've joked about it ever since.

I'm sure if anyone thought they recognized me, they would shake their head and say:" Naw. It can't be him. He's way too uptight and straight laced."

Thanks. Need to be careful. Now I know better but I thought it would flatter her 🙈
