Has anybody ever made their own bath products?

Surperfluous doesn't make sense in that sentence. I think the word you may have intended to use was superlative.

But thanks anyway.

You Rock!

See how you are? I try to compliment you, and you pick my grammar apart. I guess I'll go back to picking on you instead.

Hey, I said you rock!

Stop being so sensitive. If you turn into a whiner on your own board I am leaving and that's a promise.

I haven't ever made my own bath products.
But after reading what Ruby had to say about
body scrubs I had a quick look on the net.

I am keen to try some of these. :)

"Grapefruit essential oil gently stimulates and refreshes. Juniper oil is especially useful for fighting off water retention as well as stress and fatigue. Lavender oil can help heal minor inflammations, and relieve day to day stress.

Sea Salt Body Scrub:

1 cup fine sea salt

1/2 cup grape-seed, hazelnut, or almond oil

10 drops grapefruit essential oil

10 drops juniper essential oil

1. Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and stir thoroughly.

2. Spread the mixture onto damp skin and massage in. Concentrate on the tough, rough, thickened areas of the body, such as the feet and elbows.

You can also use this scrub to alleviate a dry, flaky, scalp and dull hair that are often the result of long-term use of permanents and colorings. Gently massage 1-2 tbsps. Of the scrub onto the entire scalp for 5 minutes, then shampoo and condition as usual. Because this scrub can be harsh on the skin only use 1-2 times a month.

Almond and Bran Scrub:

1/2 cup very finely ground almonds

1/2 cup coarse wheat bran

*1 cup hot green tea

10 drops lavender essential oil

Mix the almonds and bran. Add the tea; stir until the mixture forms a smooth paste. Cool just to body temperature. Add the lavender essential oil, thoroughly blending the mixture. Use this scrub as often as once a week.

* Green Tea is for toning and a oily buildup. "

Thanks Ruby.

Wowsers, debbie! I thought I was cool 'cause I put mayonnaise in my hair once.

Fuck me!

I've been searching for that Ingid Bergman quote, something about a kiss when words become surperfluous, but I can't find it.

Debbie, thanks :)

Dried lavender, heather, coconut milk, honey, and oatmeal.

I love making bath products, Ruby! :)

Ruby,

I grow all that I can, in my backyard.
I used to purchase some items from mothernature.com, but they went out of business.
I have a friend that may have some sites to recommend. I'll email her. :)

Be well!

Thanks, raindancer. :)

Girlie, of course you can. I'll use my home-made salt scrub all over your body. You'll glow when I'm done with you.

I'm glowing just thinking about it.

You don't need those pesky phospholipids darlin.

Herbal Bath Salts
2 cups sea salt
2 cups baking soda
1 cup oatmeal ( finely ground)
2 tsp. of your favorite dried finely ground herb mix
place all together in your food processor and mix it up.

or

Quick and Easy Unscented Bath Salts
2 cups epsom salts
1/4 cup baking soda
1/2 cup finely ground sea salt
Mix all well in a bowl.

Add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil, or a couple tablespoons of a dried herb, and there ya go.

Thanks Girlie, but I want to make the salt scrubs, which is basically sea salt packed in yummy oils. You scrub your body with it and it leaves your skin silky smooth.

Oh, duh. Try these. I want to be scrubbed with the tea tree oil one.

Peppermint Salt Scrub
Like to make up your own salt scrub recipes? It's fun and easy to do:

Grind 1/2 Cup lentils in coffee mill or blender till fine.
Grind 1/2 Cup almonds till med coarse.

Mix Peppermint essential oil with 1/2 cup almond oil & add Sea Salt till blended and add lentils and almonds.

Scented Salt Scrub
Because oils have been added to the salts, this scrub will create a healthy glow and moisturize your skin as well. To use, scoop out a tablespoon or two and begin to massage it onto your skin while in the shower or bath. Work in a circular motion, starting with your extremities and toward your heart. Leave the scrub on your skin for 5 to 20 minutes, and then rinse off with cool water.

3 cups fine sea salt
1/2 cup of olive oil
1/2 cup of sweet almond oil
1/2 tsp. tree tea oil
1/2 tsp. eucalyptus oil
1/2 tbsp. peppermint oil
1 tbsp. rosemary oil

Mix salt and oils, then add the essential oils. Store in a tightly sealed glass container. Will keep up to two weeks in refrigerator.
NOTE: do not use any equipment with copper, aluminum, cast-iron or Teflon finishes. Do not use on cut or irritated skin.

Hmmmmmm can I just sit in your bathtub......;)

I make my own bath products as well as some of my own incense and I found that if I get unscented lotion, shampoo and oils, I can also make my own scents for these.

I have also created my own perfumes.

I love doing this and it makes me feel so good when I use them, knowing I made them myself.

I made soap on a rope out of Ivory snow powder and food coloring at day camp when I was 7.
