I'm pretty excited, too! I have to wait a bit longer though, because stores are not opened longer than 8 pm (at the very most). Tomorrow I will go get the book, too, though! And luckily I'm on vacation!!! My sister will buy the book, but she still has exams next week, so I have to take it custody and get to read it. I'm planning to take the book when I go see my aunt and family in their vacation next week, just so I can annoy my cousin. She was not allowed to read the fifth, not sure about the fourth (she's 9) and most certainly doesn't understand English, so she will be pretty envious :D ;)
So, who do you think will die?

Being a hearing person I had not even considered this ^^^. Is anyone making attempts to get theaters to make some form of accomodations? Can theaters buy/rent/whatever they do, the films closed captioned?

THere are a few in the US that offer captioned viewings, but only at limited times and limited dates. I tried to catch the HP movie last time I was in PA, but the only showing was a few hours after my plane landed so we missed it :(

Most places offer hearing assistance in the form of headphones, which is about as useful as giving a blind man a book.

Wanna hear something really funny? Bronn promised to be D and mariposa's house slave 'til Sunday to make up for something he did. Guess what he's doing tomorrow night as she sleeps the sleep of the innocent...

I've preordered my copy and will be picking the book up tomorrow at around 10 am when the shop opens. I would be able to get it at midnight tonight, but it would be 25% more expensive then, so I'll just be patient and wait for tomorrow.

Really? Where are you getting it from that it would be more expensive then? I thought they were pretty strict about price gorging on this thing. I'm getting it for like $17 at Walmart.

Well that's the disadvantage of living outside the US or UK ;) I got a special preorder price on US$ 25.00 (Danish Kroner 150.00) if I were to buy it at midnight, I would have to pay $32.25 (DKR 200.00) I've also seen other prices between those.

Oh, oops, I didn't pay attention to your location, sorry

Oh, oh, oh, me, me, me*waves hand in the air* I'm a huge Harry Potter fan! I will most likely be picking it up tonight at the midnight sale that most book stores are having around here.

I've heard that Canada is soon going to require all movie theaters to have the closed captioned version of the film, this is going to be a great boom for the workers here that do the closed captioning. One of me relatives has applied for a job to do closed captioning, it's okay as long as you don't do the live news casts. They are insane, you barely have time to read what you are typing they talk so fast. I want to do this, but just the pre-recorded stuff, I don't think I could take the stress of the live stuff! :)

Us poor Europeans... We have to spend more for our Harry Potter and get it later... Well, except that with the time difference and all, in the end we are not that far behind!

In Germany stores are not allowed to open in the middle of the night, so even with paying more we don't get the stuff until the next morning :(

They are here in Denmark. So if I were to pick it up at midnight, it would be 6 hours earlier than say in New York!!! :D

I really don't understand why it isn't a law in the US to have at least one CC showing every day for each movie or something, and to require that ALL TV shows be captioned. It's so disappointing for me to look forward to a show only to find out it isn't captioned.

I was really happy when DVD's came out with their built in captioning, because not all TVs are equipped with CC, so sometimes watching movies at friends' houses and stuff was hard. But with DVD's becoming more the norm, that happens less and less for me.

Sometimes I go to certain movies anyhow on the big screen just to SEE them on the big screen, but I'm usually left more frustrated than anything, as it's nearly impossible to read lips on a screen.

But if you pick it up at 10, and the New Yorker will pick it up at midnight, they have it only four hours before you do (at least if I didn't screw up with time changes and directions and maths again... )

It's a shame that it isn't law already, they are just talking about it now. I do see a few films that are closed captioned here, but not many. I'm happy that DVD's have CC, it's really great that technology can do things like this now!
