Maybe just watch the world as time goes by?
If the U.S. (& therefore a lot of the rest of the world) gets more liberal you can laugh your ass off at me.
However, if things get more repressive out there...

The way the net will be hit will not be by overtly criminalising its content, but (I suspect) by an oddly oblique medical criticism - "Unhealthy" websites will be the first targets. "Sexual Viloence" is already in the spotlight... Start with rape and then roll the same thought process forward to BDSM.

It'll be fun to watch..., for the politicians.
But I'm not convinced that the world will be a better place for it.

I have a goatee growing in and I'm told I look more like the "Evil_Geoff" of my nick and not the "nice" Geoff people have come to expect (kinda like "Evil" Spock from that alternate universe in Star Trek). I do not carry around a flogger, but I DO wear my keys on the left side of my belt, and my dragon is carrying a BDSM symbol in his front paws. I am ALWAYS flagging "Dominant" if you know what to look for.

Yes, I am aware of what I look like when I am out and about. And unless I'm going on a job interview or funeral or wedding, I don't dress for anyone except myself. And even to the job interview what I look like is ultimately for myself because I want the job.

If the villagers want to come to _MY_ space, I will try to be a kind and gracious host. But they should not expect me to change the way I live or express myself in _MY_ space just to make them happy.

That's just one of the many reasons I am a card carrying member of the NCSF, why my BDSM group is an NCSF Coalition Partner, and why I have the NCSF's website linked in my sig file, and why the NCSF exists.

Bring the shrinks and sociologists, let them analyze and pathologize and whatever. Information is freedom, and people will find access to that information. Look at how hard the PRC government is trying to controll access to the internet... their people crave freedom and they will eventually find it.

I read it and it a brief statement I can say i was bored rigid.

The humiliation was tame and the pissing unrealistic.

On a further note, I see when you snuck this link into another thread you commented it had so far had little response in the cafe. Richards only comment was his old chestnut of stating he dislikes there being two boards to post on.

However there are two boards, we are not dumb, we can see that you want to highlight your story and there is a 'shameless plug thread' for people who want to tell everyone they have a new story out.

Personally when I want to read a story I go directly to that part of the site and make a search I don't like being ambushed on the boards.

Especially when the story lacks so many levels of realism

It was very unrealistic to me. I've done piss play (drinking and golden showers) and this sounded more like fantasy than reality. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but as someone who DOES that stuff, it was kind of boring. I guess if the target audience is vanilla types looking to be shocked, then it was probably great!

And another small point is that, although this thread is now filled with the most fantastic examples group dynamics in action, none of it is data I can actually use because I've provoked it all myself.
If any of what I've said was news to any of you then please take the information on board.
Most of you, I guess, would be aware of it all anyway.
