Would any of you computer tinkerers happen to have a hard drive that would fit an
HP Pavilion zv6000 model laptop laying around? Hubby's crashed this weekend. I haven't had a chance to check ebay yet. I'm not a "hardware" person, so I don't know what's compatible and such and don't want to end up with something that won't work.

That puts us to down to just my new laptop. The desktop has an issue I haven't pinpointed yet. I *think* it's the graphic card but not sure yet. It gets weird lines of color through the screen. Sometimes it just flickers and then goes away and other times it does it on the entire page and freezes the computer (which is why I don't think it's the monitor.) I haven't had time to reformat in hopes it's just a windows corruption of some kind.

Desktop, sorry can't help with laptop disk, sounds like a) the video card is crapping out...cheap to fix unless it's a Mac.

follow the above link...as you can see unless you are doing some pretty heavy graphics rendering or top of the line game play you can pick up a graphics card pretty cheap.

b) make sure the connectors are plugged in tight and there are no bent pins, but that shouldn't freeze windows although I have seen windows freeze just doing an alt-tab out of a program to desktop...go figure.

Any 2.5 inch IDE hard drive should work. Here's a handy litte how-to on replacing it.
