A sailor buddy and I have been into the Islay scotches for years. Recently the crews from another buddy's boat have all "gotten into" scotch. One that seems to resonate at this stage for them is Balvenie or Glenfiddich, something a little more sweeter than the sweat, peat, smoke and asphalt flavors of Islay!

Get them to try this. Their lives will never be the same again!

We drank it in a restaurant on Islay. Fantastic, but, as you say, strooong!
