Happy Groundhog's Day (And sorry, snowbound people...)

OMG, another six weeks of winter. I am not sure I can handle another six weeks of 65F highs although there will be several days in the 70s and even a few in the 80s so I may be able to ditch my thermals and fur lined over coat.

I'm pretty sure it will soon be in the triple digest temp wise and I can bask in the warmth as the humidity dives into the single digit percentages.

As in all real estate the key is location, location, location.

It's not much cooler here at 4000 ft in the central Sierra Nevada mountains, though I think my sister in Tucson is using her swimming pool more than we're in our cousin's up here.

I wouldn't mind more of a wet winter. Our reservoirs need filling.

Damn straight. I've thought for a long time that North America east of the Rocky Mountains is unfit for human life. Yet, people reside there anyway, out where arctic and tropical air masses rule, and then bitch about the weather. Feh.

Why is everybody surprised? They should note that the Spring Equinox (traditional first day of Spring) comes 7 weeks after Ground Hog Day. Duh! (Okay, 6 weeks & 4 days - still duh.)

Hubby mentioned some scientific explanation he saw about groundhogs and shadows. Involving the 7:30am test, the sun angle in the sky casting the varmint's shadow six times his own height and approximating the height of a coyote, a ground hog has a right to be frightened. Scientific? For real?

Well, when he doesn't see his shadow it doesn't mean that the Spring Equinox is going to be on a different day. it simply means that it will be an "early spring." Which I guess means that though the Equinox will be in six weeks, the weather will be spring-like earlier rather than wintery up till at least the equinox. :cattail:

Oh the fun of it. Rained a little. To start then 25-30cm of snow then freezing rain and flash freezing.

Result.. An inch of ice with snow on top then a couple of inches of ice to complete the sandwich.

The Church over the road from us is still waiting for someone to complete cleaning it out the parking lot - regular guy had the plough break off the front of his truck.
