In the Night Kitchen was a family favorite here, too. When my kids were little we actually discovered a video version. I don't remember who the narrator was, but he had a wonderfully rich voice.

We had the same video. I just googled the narrator. I thought it could have been Maurice Sendak himself, but it was Peter Schickele.
