I was talking to a friend today and he asked if I had any plans for tonight. I said no, and he was surprised. Because I'm in to BDSM, he said, he thought that this was a big holiday for me.

?!

Does anyone feel that way?

I think Halloween is just as big an excuse to drink and get crazy as any other "drinking" holiday. It's not necessarily a BDSM kinda thing... at least to me. Plus... I generally don't think alot of booze and BDSM playing match up too well.

Just me two cents.

newp as far as i'm concerned it's just another day on the calander. Except of course for all the half price candy tomorrow ;)

You rock, rosco! (whether or not I agree...)

Nah, Halloween's not a big deal for the BDSMer in me. It's sure fun for the inner child, though.

Chicklet -- I wonder if your friend is equating BDSM with Goth in his mind? Or is Halloween no big deal for Goths either? Seems like the costuming involved would lend itself to a lot of crossover -- which could be the link to BDSM, as far as fetishwear is concerned.

*Edited to fix my verbs.

Went into our local...or close to my local Starbucks..and there were more collars there then at any club I have seen. hehehe didn't know that Starbucks was the new fetish hangout.

Are you sure it was Starbucks and not "Starbarks", ya know? The up scale pupateria?

:D

Nada for me as well. I spent the evening home playing with my cat and studying chem. Now I'm enjoying a frosty, alcoholic malted beverage (just one or two) and posting here. Shortly I'll go to bed. I think Halloween is mostly for kids and college freshmen. :)

that's another thing that I wonder about - I happen to know that I'm the opposite of a Goth, I mean, dressing all yuppyish and such...at my school there were lots of Goths...so when I would confide to people that BDSM interested me, they thought of it as being more of a Goth thing...

I guess I'm just pissed that my friend linked me to a subculture that I don't think I belong in just cause I might like kinky sex.

Halloween is to BDSM as New Years is to drinking: Amateur Night.

LOL! *falls from her chair onto the ground in a fit of laughter* i don't know why that caught me so off-guard, but damn that was funny.

What?

Halloween is a BDSM Holiday.... and here I thought it was just a night I had to freeze my butt off taking my kids around to get candy from neighbors.....

Some Do; Some Don't

I have gone to fetish parties just about every year at Halloween time for a long while. It is a matter of preference.

I love Halloween, and I would sometimes spend it in Orlando at Universal Studios cause they have a really kick ass Halloween Party.

Hi, Chicklet!

IT is so cool to see you posting here.

Well, I have always loved Halloween and this year was no different.

However, I guess I never considered it as part any lifestyle stuff :)

yeah, turns out we've all been cheated.

The goth/halloween connection is a bit problematic as well. Although a large number of goths are into pagan religions (for whom this *was* a big holiday) it isn't a big goth event. I think the same can be sad for those who practice bsdm. Yeah, I could wear my vinyl outside (and I'd freeze) but I'd get just as many looks and incidents of sexual harassment as I would otherwise.

October 31, to me, is sacred. Not because I am submissive, but because I am Neo Pagan and follow Sabbats more than Christian holidays.

A Halloween Wedding

I do not think Halloween is necessarily a BDSM holiday, but we attended a wedding that day for some good BDSM friends of ours. Actually my Master, Daedalus77, officiated the wedding. It all went off without a hitch and the only way that they couple involved showed their BDSM was to dress sa a SUltan and His slavegirl. The bride did have to eat a chocolate covered cricket to show her submission to Him though! Master was dressed as a Royal Mideastern Minister and I was His concubine. The decor was all Halloween with a bride and groom skeleton background with trolls and a winged horned demon.

After the wedding we all went to Halloween Horror nights at Universal in Orlando which was a great way to spend our evening. Talk about scary :)

Double whammy, Chicklet.

Your friend not only misrepresented you for saying Halloween is a BDSM holiday, but also insulted pagans by trivializing the day when they see Samhain as the coming of the new year.

Anyone else want to get a lick in on this guy. :)

Candy manufacturers maybe, or the kids.

Somebody think of the children...
