Halloween Support Thread

Bullshit. It's simply a matter of finding what you are good at. That category is really hard - both from a readers and writers persepctive. I think the core thing is credibility - no matter how fantastic or out of this world - you have to convince the reader that it could happen. I think you may have lost that when she jumped all her class mates she hadn't seen in a number of years. But you have an easy, enjoyable style to read

LMAO it could happen if you were me. With the exception of three, I would do my classmates...that's 4. uhhuh...but then again not everyone is a slut like me so I guess that's my problem

Hi Tulip,

I just finished White Women. I liked the opening, but I thought the second half was too fast and I didn't quite understand who Lilly was and why she behaved the way she did. In spite of this, it was still an easy five in Lit terms.

Take Care,
Penny

Does anyone know if The Earl's story is published yet? I can't find it and I wanted to read it :( Maybe I'm just blind?

It is up: http://english.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=224763

Unfortunately my first reader and commenter (thanks Aliyah!) has caught a blindingly obvious mistake with a switch from one tense t'other, which I now cannot change. Arse. I blame it on rushing to submit and thus not getting anyone to do a big edit. Will alter after the competition.

Honestly I think I was hallucinating when I wrote that cuz now I can't find anything :embarrassed:

A cheap satisfaction of the hungers can be had any and every day, but tonight is a rare opportunity. All Hallows: the night when the spirits floated close to this world and sometimes travelled twixt one and the other. I feel a chuckle roll in my throat. "You have no idea what's to come," I murmur quietly.

intentional? anyhow it was a really great story, you had me totally confused as to what kind of non-human he was until the end.

OK nvm I found it...but it's a tiny tiny little error that's hardly noticeable:
She shuddered under my touch and my hands course her skin, sliding down to her hips as I bite again.

That's the one. Gaaah!

I've tried writing the same Halloween story for all three contests that have passed me by. Every time, I've added a little bit more and then completely failed to finish. Then I get this idea, out of the blue, knock it off in a couple of days and squeeze it in just before the deadline!

I know how you feel :D Despite my horrid attempts at stories so far, there was one shall we say "fan" who asked me to do a sequel and I just can't write :( Horrible writer's block at the moment.

I do wonder when voting is over though. I realize it's nearly futile to read through every single entry *Sigh* but I'm trying my best :D

Is it wrong that that turns me on;)

And your story did too -Bravo! :D

Mine is up - just made the cutoff! (written and posted within 24 hours - a record for me :nana: )

I deliberately set out to out-do Ogg for this competition! :p I chose the 2 categories I couldn't write for as they don't appeal [horror and lesbian] and gave it a horrible & unexplainable ending, and skinted on the editing. :) Watch out Ogg

And why not try?

I do have five entries but as I am not in either competition you have a real chance. My fifty word stories are attracting complimentary PCs and low votes; not as low as the Witches or the essay. If I were competing in the Last Place contest I'd have 3 contenders.

A late entry has a good chance of winning the last place contest because it may not get the 25 votes. I'll sabotage that by reading and voting on your entry.

153 total stories is the official count then... unless I'm miscounting... !

I'm glad to hear I've got another 7 days to read... still way too behind...

I know others have said this is an unusual amount of entries. What is usually the a average number??

I'm actually really impressed with all the original ideas out there in 150 entries not many have even the same theme...! :)

lots of perversions abounding on Lit. We IS a strange crew.

Selena,

I have no idea, but this is the first time ever I got enough votes to be eligible for monthly winner.
Up to 91 votes! I have stories in here who haven't come close to that after more than a year.

And I think I picked up a few new readers. Which is what's really satisfying.

I seem to have 'peaked' at 42 votes, but -- for my first time out of the gate -- I find that absolutely thrilling!!

Also feels like I haven't slept or eaten (unless red wine counts) in days, reading story after wonderful story... I'm anticipating some pretty major Halloween withdrawal, when this contest is over...

Just wanted to say "thank you" for making my first story & contest experience here SO thoroughly enjoyable!

Great story. I 5-bombed ya but with all the entries, leaving a sensible comment is tough.

Will keep you in my radar - super stuff.

Flabergasted!
In a good way. For various reasons, I didn't submit my 'Halloween' story until evening time yesterday. When I signed in this morning to check it already had 63 votes and almost 2000 views with a 4.63. I was only hoping to get enough votes to maybe make it to 25 votes by the end of the month. Since I write in .doc and submissions have to be transcribed by the powers that be,(delaying the time between submission and posting) I'm blown away by the response. Plus 4 pc's and 2 emails. Pleasantly surprised.

I certainly will never be in contention for any awards unless it's og's worst ever award, but for a very late posting of a story I wasn't even going to write and had problems finishing, I very surprised.

Wow are some people getting alot of votes.

I've been much lower in the votes the whole time, but since I got it up on day 1 of the contest, I think that helped the PCs, since I have 21 of those.

Plus the ever nice Ogg read something else of mine and made a PC and that was very special :)

All in all not too bad for someone not very active here :)

Now if I can just get windows to actually -install- the upgrades access iss aying it needs so I can get some stuff done, I'll be happy :)

~Alex

Then I am AWOL for Novemeber, well at least until the steam runs out

Don't feel so bad, Earl. Nobody here is going to jump on a guy who is obviously doing the VERY BEST he ca. ;)

But seriously, I know how you feel. Nano seconds after the story is posted an error (or two) suddenly glare out at you. There were two of them in my contest entry. One was a character's name snafu on the first word of a paragraph. The other was even worse. Instead of Till We Meet Again, somehow the title ended up Till Me Meet Again.

Fortunately only two people mentioned the screw-up on the character's name and no one said a word about the odd title.

Ali,

As a BDSM devotee might say, oh, the agony and the ecstasy.

My story is a heavily modified scene from one of my novels. The name Willie works okay in that format, but NOT in a Literotica short story. I'd changed all the character's names from the novel, including Willie, who became Jimmy. But despite running "Find and Replace" twice and doing an eye-ball check, I managed to miss that one. And of all the names to miss!

Rumple "redfaced" Foreskin

ps And while I've got the floor:

Hey there, Black Tulip
Hey there, English Lady
Hey there, everybody else

check out my new and improved sig line. :)

We used to be able to correct such errors, right up until the time the story was posted. There should be a way to do it now, even if it means delaying the posting for a few days.

I agree, approximately 100%, Box. It came as a shock to discover that capability no longer existed. Anyone know why its been removed?

Hey Runp,
A 'Thank you' is in order for you as well as Colly. Your email finally got me off my ass to try a Halloween Story. I really had not planned on doing one, although several others had asked before you. It is doing phenomanlly for something by me. No danger of winning anything unless og's last place, but it has skyrocketed despite only being submitted late yesterday evening. It posted sometime over night. I'm a little flabergasted to have one of my feeble attempts do so well.
So Thanks for the kick in the ass. :D
