I think this one has attracted more entries than any Literotica contest ever.

I have helped swell the pile with five entries even though I am not eligible to win.

There are many great stories and original story-lines this time. I will not draw the trolls' attention to any particular story or author by naming stories or authors' names.

I have read most of those posted by those whose names I recognise, and voted on each one. For a few I have left a PC. Please, do not feel neglected if I haven't left a PC on your story. I find it very difficult to comment meaningfully on other writers' work in a public arena. I appreciate and I am grateful for those who have left PCs on mine. This time I have tried to reciprocate more than in previous contests. Faced with that PC box my muses desert me. I will attempt to leave more before the closing date for the result.

If we (the totality of Literotica authors, that is, not just the AH) can submit so many entries for Halloween, how many can we produce for Valentine's Day 2006? If only 0.1% of Literotica's members wrote one entry each I doubt that we could read them all.

As an aside, I participated as the RL me in two writing contests in the last few months. This year I wasn't even shortlisted. In previous years I have managed the shortlist and one third place. However I understand that one of the contests attracted over 2,000 entries up from last year's 190. Writing is becoming popular.

Congratulations to all those who have braved the trolls and the wrath of anonymous. I hope that most of you think that the added exposure has been worth it and that you have won a few fans of your work.

I doubt if I have gained any new fans and I might have actually lost some. Most people who read my smut regularly do so because they want something to wank or frig to. That's fine with me, because that's the kind of story I like to write., but it was not what I wrote for Halloween.

If I enter any more theme contests, which is likely, my stories will have maybe the first 300 words introducing the characters and the last 200 describing relaxing on the bed. The 4,500 words in between will be graphic descriptions of mutually enjoyable sexual activity.

Wow! I'm blown away by the number of Halloween Contest stories, although I have nothing to compare it to... since I'm new here. I had foolishly decided to use this contest as a motivator to get off my lazy duff and submit my first story... now I'm intimidated and second guessing that <lol> but I'm already in the 'pending' pool. Cest la vie!

Just wanted to say best of luck to all and, again, wow! Can't wait to curl up in bed with my laptop and read every single one...

By changing your style you should have developed as an author. I'm sure your fans will forgive a minor deviation from your normal stories.

The contests are a useful arena in which to demonstrate that you can produce different work. For Halloween the unexpected IS expected.

I expect many of my stories not to get Hs. I can understand that it may be a shock to those authors who have wall to wall Hs to have a story without one.

An H means that your story has ten or more votes and a rating of 4.50 or higher.

Most of us are tolerant of newbies. We were all newbies once...

There's a newbie thread around here somewhere, but it's grown rather long, I'm afraid.

an H means just what Og said.

a W means it has won a monthly contest, or one of the holiday ones.

and an E means it is an "editor's choice."

To reiterate what others have said, Hi, Muse, and welcome to the AH. It is a generally friendly place. Sometimes we get into political arguments but most of us remain civil in our disagreement. We enjoy sort of hanging out here and sometimes flirting and issuing indecent propositions and playing games. Even now, I should be writing a smutty story but I am goofing off here.

A word of caution. Avoid going to GH because it is a hostile place, especially to newbies like you.
