Peeled grapes is where it's at, my brotha.

Hey, I was gonna say that! :D

And don't forget the candy corn and the bloody finger suckers!

Gawd I have a ton of cookbooks with Halloween ideas...last year my daughter and I made a pumpkin cake for her preschool party. It was a huge hit...and it tasted good too!

Ihave a recipe for really cool cookies that look like witch's fingers. I have it at work though- I'll try to find it for you if you want it.

YES!!

Thank you for reminding me! Last year I found a jello mold shaped like a hand. So I made green jello and add gummy worms crawing out of it and surrounded the worms with red icing. It was a hit.......and yummy too :D

Oh and you take those clear plastic food service gloves and put a candy corn in each finger then fill the rest of it up with popcorn! I love that!

Don't forget actual brains, you can buy them at an good butcher shop.

Rasta : Great Idea! By the way, I'd be a sista ( except I'm kinda pale) lol :)

SpiceCake : Bloody finger suckers?

Calypso : was it pumpkin shaped or flaved or both? Do you have a recipe or picture of it?

Lilminx : That would be so awesome! Thanks :)

MsTerious : Whoa! That sounds cool. Thanks :)

Nora : You're the bestest! :)

I found a recipe online very similar to the one I have in my book:

Witches Fingers
Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup icing sugar (powdered sugar)
1 egg
1 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla
2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
3/4 cup whole blanched almonds
1 tube red decorator gel
Instructions
In bowl beat together butter, sugar, egg, almond extract and vanilla; beat in flour; baking powder and salt. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Working with one-quarter of the dough at a time and keeping remaining dough refrigerated, roll heaping teaspoons full of dough into finger shape for each cookie. Press almond firmly into one end for nail. Squeeze in center to create knuckle shape. Using a paring knife make slashes in several places to form knuckle.

Place on lightly greased cookie sheet in 325 degree oven for 20-25 minutes or until pale or golden. Let cool for three minutes. Lift up almond; squeeze red decorator gel onto nail bed and press almond back in place so gel oozes out from underneath. Remove from cookie sheet and let cool.

Repeat with remaining dough. Makes about 5 dozen fingers

I also used red food coloring to make the almonds a dark red.

Thanks a lot Lilminx :)

If anyone else has any recipes that they dont want to share on the board for whatever reason, you can always PM me =)

You can get

They make a jello mold of a human brain, which when jello is mixed with something it makes it opaque and look more real. The jello mold is sold at most novelty stores....look for it.

Nothing beats going a little jeffery dalhmer style and adding a cow's tongue, and other gross niceities from the butcher shop....what is grosser than real life? right? On the morbid side, nothing beats a good tombstone cake with gummy bugs for that lil extra zing

Goodluck....

I have the recipe and will look for a pic...it was made with two bunt cakes put together...there's your shape...Not pumpkin flavored though...butter yellow...with a buttercream frosting colored orange.

COOL STUFF

I'm not even huge on Halloween and this stuff looks like fun. Would be great for parties and for kids. It would even be cool to have stuff like this to serve around the store that week :)

:)
