On July 1, a 20-year-old Arizona man, who is a U.S. citizen, arrived at the Port of Lukeville driving a 2011 pick-up truck which was hauling a sport recreational vehicle on a utility trailer. CBP officers performing the inspection for entry to the U.S. sent the driver and vehicles aside for a more intensive inspection.

While conducting a thorough inspection of the pick-up truck, trailer, and sport utility vehicle, CBP officers noticed anomalies throughout the frame of the trailer. With the assistance of a CBP canine team, officers discovered 234 packages of drugs concealed within the frame of a trailer. The packages contained approximately 4 million blue fentanyl pills, which is the largest fentanyl seizure in CBP history.

The second seizure occurred on July 12, when a 45-year-old male Mexican citizen driving a 2007 Ford F1-50 pick-up truck towing a utility trailer attempted to make entry into the U.S. During an in-depth examination utilizing non-intrusive inspection (NII) and a CBP canine team, officers discovered 39 packages of methamphetamine totaling nearly 272 pounds and an additional five pounds of cocaine.

which kind of illustrates so well how most of the drugs come in via the border crossings rather than being smuggled into the US by the desperate humans attempting to cross illegally at unguarded parts of the border. These people have a hard enough time just traveling to the border with meagre possessions without having to carry loads of illicit drugs to boot! The drugs come in by air, sea and land, mainly through the official customs points of entry.

I really don't think the cartels trust a bunch of desperate people who are already targets of law enforcement with a ton of their merchandise.
