Ok..here's the deal.. i need to get my hair cut specifically for work, but it is also starting to look really bad. It's super thick, heavy and wavy curly. If you look at my AV you can see it after my last hair cut. i am attaching a pic that i just took with my cell phone cam to show you what it looks like now.

i don't want anything that is hard to maintain, and my hair absolutely REVOLTS at the thought of heat styling, so no blow dryers, flat irons, etc..etc..

HELP!

Maybe a gentle spiral perm with a little gel to set it, perhaps? i think it would look nice on you.

Second thought was like maybe a Betty Boop type flip under on the bottom edges?

I would get a really good short cut with short on back and sides a it longer on top. Find a stylist who cuts lots of executive women's hair.

It may...but once i get rid on length my curl comes right back out, and the main objective it to get rid of some of the length otherwise i have to pull it all back for work, which just doesn't work.

Why do you have to pull it back for work?

Have you tried shampoo and conditioner specifically for maintaining curly hair? Matrix makes sleek shampoo and conditioner that tames curly hair and makes it easier to style. I can get samples and send them to you. I work for a beauty supply distributor and get that stuff for a fraction of the cost. It really does work well. A friend of mine that has wavy hair swears by that shampoo and conditioner.

They also have gel and styling cream in the same line of products that is designed for wavy/curly hair. Pm me if you want me to get you some samples for you to try and see if it helps. ;)

i use high quality products for curly hair. i need to get rid of length. There is no two ways about it.

Its too bad that you need to get rid of the length because my suggestion was going to be "Grow it out, honey!" I think it would look GREAT if you let it get a bit longer.

Maybe a cute little bob. You've got the right length for that right now, so maybe just some leave-in conditioner and brush it down?

I agree with the first part of the post... Not sure about a cute little bob, but we'll see... She looks great now and she'll look great after the cut. I like it long and that's why it is growing out, but have to agree that pulling it up / back won't work and work rules are work rules.

The good part is she'll look great with almost any cut... and if it gets cut too short, well, it will grow more.

Relax little one... It will be fine...

I also like it as it is now. Maybe with a smoothing serum, a blow dryer and a round brush? Just take the ends and flip them up?

I had a similar haircut about six months ago, and that's how I styled it. It worked well for me.

Good luck! :rose:

OK, I don't have much patience left for google research after grading a pile of essays, but here are two styles that may work:

This one is closer to what the style you have in your av, but still a bit different. I think that the added volume on top would suits your face really well:

This one is has a little bit more 'oomph', and would probably require more product use then you may want to, but if cut properly, it should be relatively easy to style:

The Judd one is a beautiful cut. I recall that Sarah McLachlan had a similar one - I had that cut once. It does wonderful things...

I also love the Ashley Judd hairstyle. But then I also think you hair looks great right now.

I don't have really curly hair, just semi wavy, so I feel like the Judd look would take work. But I really have no business posting here. I suck at hair. Ask me about shoes or make-up and I'm hot. But hair?

Actually, I'm riding on your coat tails. Hoping for some hair inspiration of my own.

I'll go back to lurking now.....

you know I loved your first haircute but I do like the ashley judd one DB picked out.. ;)

I like the Ashley Judd one as well, but I reall like it now - all you need is the right product. Have you Keihl's silk groom? I also like Aveda humectant pomade for curly hair.

You know your hair is a bit like mine. Its thick and got a natural wave to it. Because i used to wear it short (for years) I had forgotten about the wave lol.

I've let it grow in the last year and now its below my jaw line.....a choppy bob, slightly longer at the front than at the back. For going out I blow it straight but actually I've discovered I really love the natural curl and sometimes prefer just to let it do its own thing. I think having it a little longer helps because it weighs the curl down a bit. I would suggest keep with growing it a little longer hottie...you can always get it cut if you don't like it jaw length, but in the meantime I would have it thinned out maybe and have you thought of having a side fringe...not a full on one...mines kinda falls over one eye a little but its not heavy.

Alternatively I love the styles DB posted

Super cute cuts but a schmidt-load of styling happening here which, I believe she said, she is adverse to.

As far as product is concerened I would highly recommend Aveda's liquid pamade. Yes, I know it is part of their Men's line but it is an amazing gel whether you are wearing your hair straight or curly. It is highly moisturizing without being heavy. Perfect for styling with a round brush or trying to define your curl and eliminate friz.

Jeez. I sound like a commercial.
