i use high quality products for curly hair. i need to get rid of length. There is no two ways about it.
Why do you need to get rid of the length? The tricky part about going shorter with your hair is your fringe, specifically the cowlick on the right side. What if you actually grew your hair longer in length but shortened the layers? My experience is that thick wavy hair is often times more manageable with some length than going really short.
The tricky part is finding somone who knows how to cut curly hair. Longer length with some shorter layers can be a disaster if cut by someone who doesn't know what they are doing. If, however, they have been in the business for a number of years and love cutting curly hair, it can work really really well.
A couple questions you might want to consider are: what are you willing to do to find a stylist who knows how to cut your hair? How much are you willing to pay? Once you find a stylist who can cut curly hair, are you willing to commit to several visits so they can get used to your hair?
