Had my cat spayed

6 months.

She was a stray. Fleas and worms. She was dumped in a park and left. We took her into our home a few months ago. She was an outside cat, but now she's mostly an inside cat. She's been chipped and vaccinated as well. Haven't registered yet but it's coming.

Thing is, she's a bit wild. She often bites and attacks. A lot. I tell her no when she attacks me. I bought her toys and a water fountain. New feeder. A ball game. A tower. Some fluffy toys. She bit Simba's tail off.

She was desexed the other day and the vet said it may calm her down a bit. It didn't LOL. She likes my attention.

I think she just likes to hunt. Any tips or advice? My first cat. I've had some help from the council. They sent me some reading material. Codes for discounts on treatment etc., but not much about behaviour.

My previous neighbor had all sorts of things like steps or ropes on the wall, on top of them was a small nest. It looked like a rock climbing apparatus for cats and she surely loved it.

My small bichon was alpha and obstinate from day one and she didn't change much no matter how hard I tried. He - lovely nature, a bit submissive. Didn't change either.

My harsh advice would be: either get used to it, or try to get her a different home. It just might not be the best personality match, other people might like her for it.

No, I bought her a Simba soft toy to cuddle. She doesn't cuddle. She tackled him like a fucking front rower and then kicks him while he's down with her hind legs. She is fucking savage with her toys. Better the toys than us LOL

A puppy? I can't.

It's more the biting and clawing I want to stop. Especially when the kids come over.

no, I'm speaking from regret and experience.
I was never as attached to the wee bichon as I was to the big mutt, because of her personality. In hindsight, maybe I should have picked up the subtle warning signs and changes in her behavior before she suddenly dropped dead.
My parents were crazy about her & kept asking me to send her to them overseas, but I didn't.

Next time I get a pet, I'll make sure about his/her personality.
I, too get attached to the cuddly types.

Give her time. My one cat is 7 now. She was a feral kitten when we got her. It takes time for a cat like that to learn to trust, and even then, the slightest little thing that frightens them can turn them wild again!

My former cat (lived to age 17) was trained from a kitten to walk on a leash. I didn't even have to use a carrier for her for the longest time because she was that tame. And yet? She could turn on a dime. Try to give her a pill, clip her nails or pet her for one second too long and you would get bitten or scratched. Best with a cat like that if you let them come to you. Let them sit in your lap or cuddle up for petting.

As for the tail, that is something all of my cats have done. I've had 6 in my lifetime. They seem to know it's not a real animal and yet they want to prove to you that they would kill for you. Somehow in a cat's mind, once the tail is gone, it's dead. Weird, I know. I buy those little fur mice. Once the tail is gone, they are of no interest to the cats.

Females aren’t usually friendly by nature, and calicos are even more stand-offish. Her decapitating and amputating her toys is the hunt, she should grow out of it. Keep her occupied with toys to protect the furniture.
I have a deaf female that I use an oven mitt for the grill to play with she jackrabbits and can’t hear my screams. She has never grown out of that stage, but she is an exception.
The other cat I put down a few days ago, she was a gem who had kept me company the past twenty years.

She isn't the friendliest cat, but she likes to snuggle when she's sleepy. Bit like me ha ha. No, she's warming to us I think. Give her some love and play time and I think she'll settle down a bit.

my little guy goes back in this month to get his nuts chopped. vet said we had to wait for them to drop. i have to say my female cats are much more stand offish than he is. i will second the spray bottle (i use a mixture of water and vinegar) plus the oven mitt. my cats love a good whip/ long stick with strings attached to it to chase around and attack. they are little demons, but i wouldn't trade them for the world. give the cat time, and she will let you know exactly what she likes and doesn't. one of my cats loves to chase balls. i hope you enjoy many years with the newest addition to your family!

It's funny you say because I'd never been much of a cat person. When the missus asked if I wanted a cat I was a bit hesitant because of all the things I'd heard. Now that I've grown a bit, I feel a real connection to her, like she's a member of our family.

When we dropped her off at the vet and came home, I opened the front door and the house felt empty. Without her. Running to greet us with her little paws and her beautiful shiny coat.
