My wife and I went south to a local towns annual Garlic Festival. We were looking forward to this.

For the most part we had a great time. We walked around and sampled some great things, including Garlic Ice Cream. (It's not what it sounds like believe me.) WE listened to some incredible music and had some incredible food.

We're talking things like London Broil in a Garlic Chimichurri Sauce. (I know how to make this one.)

Garlic Curry Chicken Kabobs. (I'll figure out how to make this one.)

Garlic bread made with Roasted Garlic and Cheese then topped with pureed fresh Garlic and Roasted Garlic.

Italian Sausage stuffed with fresh Garlic then grilled to perfection and served with a light Marinara Sauce.

My wife and I loaded up on goodies then found an out of the way place to perch, eat and watch people. This was prime people watching country.

Miss Garlic Fest was walking around in high heels wearing a bikini made to look like Garlic Cloves. I still say she looked quite tasty although she should have lowered those heels a might.

Old Man Garlic was an older guy in a beard wearing an outfit that looked like, you guessed it, Garlic. (Either that or he was wearing an overfilled diaper with a shoulder strap.)

On the other hand some people were wearing outfits that just made us wonder why. Not that we were complaining.

One couple came through wearing overalls. He with a Tee Shirt proclaiming him to be a farmer of America and her with seemingly nothing else on.

One woman walked past us wearing a bellydancers outfit and carrying a Tamborine. Too bad she was older than Whistlers Mother.

Then there were the usuals for south Florida. We had the Goths, the wanna be bikers and the just plain strange. (Have you ever seen a young lady wearing a Plaid Shirt, a Micro Mini and Doc Martins while sporting an electric pink Mohawk?)

Well we sat and enjoyed ourselves. We ate and drank our beer and watched the people and enjoyed the scene. It was a good time and we even had goody bags to bring home. (Little things like Garlic Salsa and Garlic Spread for bread and chips.)

The Music I mentioned was mainly done by local Florida Bands. Most of it was quite good. The big stars of the night came on at 2030 and were the "Los Lonely Boys". I was looking forward to this as I have a couple of their albums.

As their time approached we could hear the sound checks being done and I started getting that feeling. I knew what was going to happen. Then they hit the stage and the sound blared out.

Yes sound, it wasn't music. The volume had been turned up so much you couldn't hear the singing. The previous acts the sound was low enough that you could actually hear them performing. Not so with this band. My wife and I left with my wife holding her ears. It was so loud it was painful. Hell three blocks away we could feel the Bass.

Why is it always the same thing when big named bands play? I have been to the county fair a couple of times and had the same thing happen. I have been to other venues in other states where the same thing happened. It happens with all types of music, Country, Rock, Blues and Bluegrass. When the lesser known people play the volume is at an acceptable level and you can actually hear them clearly but when the big names come on the volume is amped so much you can't hear a damned thing.

Well like I said we left. We were disapointed with the big named bands music but we still had a great time and I suppose that all that matters.
