Gun Shy

I said; "Who do you think you are, Burton's widow?"

naw, I wasn't that fast with a quip back then.
I do have a few nude or nearly pics- nothing outrageous though.
Oh really? I'll give you a dollar

Do you ever get a bit gun shy posting a story?

It's been about 6 months since I've done a serious contribution (ie not a comp story for the trolls etc). I'm hating the fact that lit have changed it so you can't delete it after submitting and pre-posting!!

I've been writing for a while. Haven't crashed and burned overly much. But still I get anxious. I'm not the anxious type.

Anyone else?

I'm actually a tad on edge today, and it's not just the four shots of espresso I've guzzled while here at the coffee shop.

Of the fourteen stories I have on this site, thirteen are part of a single series, which has a fairly consistent style, set of themes, etc. The pending story is a radical departure in style and much darker than my normal fare, and I fret a little that it'll be trashed by folks who I've lured into expecting a certain sort of story from me.

Oh, yes, and it's also in a category I've never tried before--I'll just have to see if they stomp me over there in incest & taboo.

Though I try to reassure myself with thoughts of how I'd like to grow as a writer by doing different kinds of fiction and experimenting with a range of prose styles, my ego remains far more fragile and far more susceptible to the disapproving reader than I'd like it to be.

But I, for one, have read and dug your work, wishfulthinking. Do me a favor and don't let your anxiety prevent you from posting a new story.

Me, too, wishful. I haven't posted a story here in 18 months+ and I find my courage not so much failing me, as my cowardice overwhelming me.

Lol! Yes, the cowardice wouldn't overwhelm if it was quick posting, not 10 days to agonise over mistakes!

Thanks you guys. (But I asked Laurel to delete it last night, and she did :D] I'll repost today or tomorrow!

xx WT

PS I agree Helen, and that shirt is sex on a hanger. :D

You'll be fine with incest - fantastic even. They seem to have lower standards, and so long as you have the right stuff [ie someone getting pregnant, a hot mum, horny son etc :D] they'll be more than happy with whatever you serve up to them. :rose:

Looong wait :rose: I deleted mine after 6 days, and it hadn't even been viewed yet by the lit gods.

No sweat - just place a "full disclosure" preface at the start of your story telling your regular readers exactly what you told us here.

Who could complain then? If you are clever you may be able to suggest this in the limited space of your title/description.

Aw, come on Yui - you can do it! Just think about all the great comments and notes you're gonna get from men and women of good will. Would you deprive them of the pleasure you can provide just because there a tiny handful of vandals out there? No! Never! Spit on those vandals, and embrace those horny multitudes - you can do it!

Yeah, good thinking Roxy {can I call you Roxy?} when I submit a different story I would put it on my members page and put a little warning (or intro :D) there. A lot of people read it, so it does get the message across.

Thanks! Just don't call me late for dinner. Yeah, "Roxy" is cute.

PS. Submit it!
Could I just ask you to submit to me and whisper sweet ... uh, foreign stuff in my ear, mebbe? I'm willing to reciprocate. ;)

And agonize over failings and words and "what if" and "if only" and so it becomes like a freaking committed relationship to Lit that you didn't want to have. The stress becomes disproportionate to the payoff, eh?

Thank for the encouragement, Roxanne. :rose:

I've been very fortunate in that I have received only positive feedback and comments which I think makes it a wee bit worse. Fear of sophomore failure, mebbe? ;)

Well, it goes without saying that I am a bastard...but it takes one to know one. I'm tellin ya, those beady little eyes hold a world full o' trouble. They're almost as nasty as squirrels or as we here in the north like to call them...lawn bears.

You in the North just might need a hobby, or heat, or perspective, or something.. :D Lawn bears? <snicker>
